N54 HPFP Resolved?

Hate to beat a dead horse but it has been more than 2 years since I sold my 135i back to BMW. Did BMW resolve the HPFP issue on N54 or its still ongoing and they are waiting for warranty to expire?

I think the jury's out, but the reports seem pretty good. The most recent HPFP seems to have resolved most issues but is no magic bullet. Certainly the noise about failures seems to have died down quite a bit in the last 12 months.

Also, the 2011 and 2012 135i's have the N55 instead of the N54; supposedly even more resilient to failures. The rate of failures I've heard about seems well within limits for most mechanical systems and not really any worse than any other direct-injection system.

Thinking of coming back to the fold? Come back to the dark side. We have cookies. The cake is a lie, though.

Considered the 1M, however with its availability don't think I will get one without paying premium. May consider a preowned E92M3, CaymanS in the next 6mos.

From asking around (at dealership, online, etc.), the situation is much improved, but would not say 100% resolved.

I really liked that car too and would have kept it for 10+ years, modding it after warranty has expired. If BMW had offer me a loyalty discount I would have jumped straight into another BMW, oh well.

Yes I remember that. Still didn't stop me from bringing it back to shop every 6mo. These new pumps must have done the trick

I work in the Parts Dept at a BMW stealership. We rarely do pumps/injectors anymore. I wouldnt hesitate to get a 135/335/535. In fact, I'm planning on trading my 08' 328i for a turbo soon, probably a 135i 6mt. The whole reason I got the 328i was because I didnt want the hassle of the turbo probs.
