Performance Friction Group Buy

I ran across this on another forum and wanted to share. The group buy is for PFC 08 and PFC's new "11" compound (replacement for the "01" compound) on ANY model and even aftermarket calipers.

Link to the group buy:

Interested:
1. Sixle- 11 front and rear?
2. jafo1701- 08 front and rear?

I don't believe PFC offers a pad for the stock 135i Calipers...Just FYI

I had never noticed that PFC did not make any of their race compounds for the stock 135 calipers (I have only used Carbotech and Cobalt pads up until this point).

Anyways it sounds like Speed Freaks (who is a Tier 1 PFC dealer) will be working with PFC to finally get pads made for the 135 if there is demand for them. The options would be for the brand new 11 compound or the relatively new 08 compound.

Compound descriptions from PFC:
NEW 11 Compound
11 Compound is a new generation sprint and medium distance friction —the ultimate in control, with superior disc conditioning. 11 compounds were developed from the 01 compound with improved bite, modulation, and release characteristics. It is ultra smooth and developed to reduce wheel locking at the end of a stop. Brake with confidence—brake with ultimate control and modulation. For many applications, 11 will replace the venerable 01 compound.
Typical applications; Ideal use for medium-low grip venues where control and modulation is at a premium. Also racing venues where ABS systems are used, .11 can be used in a large spectrum of temperature ranges. 11’s wear is par with PFC’s legendary 01 compound. Virtually zero taper wear when raced in a properly designed race caliper.

08 Compound
08 compounds are one of PFC newest and have gained immediate favor in Endurance Sportscar, and GT racing due to its performance in applications where smooth initial bite is a must. 08 have a slight friction rise with temperature, excellent release and modulation characteristics. Very low abraded disc wear with a fine grey slate like disc finish, similar to 01. Despite its considerable performance, 08 wears the longest of all PFC pads and easily matches wear of the other competitors with much higher bite
Typical applications: Ideal use for endurance where long wear is at a premium. Also racing venues where ABS systems are used.

If you are interested please post up which of the two compounds you are most interested in (incase they can only do one or the other). I will be making a list to keep track of the amount of interest. I think what Speed Freaks is dong will benefit the community greatly so lets make this happen!

I will be leading the charge on this so feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

My first choice was PFC and I was saddened to find the didn't have a fit! Carbotech seems like the next best choice for me.

Hopefully we can get PFC on it to get us a pad option!

Compound 11 looks the best for personal situations, But 8 looks solid as well. maybe an option of both?

Im hoping they will be able to make both but for now PFC wants to know how much interest there is from people and which compound gets the popular vote. I don't fully understand why only one compound would be made if they were to invest in new molds, but if it comes down to it Im guessing majority will want the 11 compound. Could be wrong though. Should I put you down for 11 on the "interested" list?

*Update*

Speed Freaks, LLC has been working with PFC and at the moment the project is going forward for the 135i OEM Calipers since they have a lot of local interest at the tracks with their customers. It sounds like both the 11 and 08 will be made.

I would like to get a list going of who would like pads and the compound so please post up if you are interested!

The most popular compound split is 08 compound front and rear or 11 compound front with 08 in the rear if you want a little more front bias for stickier EHP street tires and beyond.

I would be interested. I'm running Carbotech XP 10 right now, but ran PFC 06 when I had my E36 M3. 08 would be my preference.

08 compound Front and Rear for me. Considering these for my 135i as a tracking, and streetable pad. Other choices Im considering are Hawk DTC-60, and Pagid RS-29 pads ...

Specs for PFC compounds can be found here:

I use their z rated pad on my e90 and am happy with it. It has low dust and holds up well even for hpde use. Certainly not a track pad but also doesn't self destruct like other non track pads.

I had a chance to try the pfc z rated street pad yesterday on an e36 m3 at Thunderhill raceway in Willows, CA and I must say they did hold up surprisingly well for a street pad. It was very similar in terms of fade resistance to the Stoptech street pads but with a slightly more aggressive initial bite. That was my first experience ever with PFC pads and I was thoroughly impressed... if thats what their street pads can offer then Im ready to have my mind blown by their race compounds that were actually designed for the track. Well done PFC

Yeah winter in California is just a few months of possible showers... my "winter" tires are Bridgestone RE-11 and Dunlop ZII

Summer is actually my off season because it just gets too hot. Winter is normally nice weather and when all the fast times are set.
