i think climate control is broken

first off, my e36 went to 90 degrees.....the 135 goes to 84....im sure this isnt a problem, but caught me off guard. im guessing 84 is the standard max-heat.

heres the issue:

its getting colder here in ny, so ive been turning on the heat lately. when I put it up from 77ish-83, i still feel cold air blowing out. it ONLY blows out hot air at 84.

i tested this with the engine halfway warmed up, and fully warmed up. on low and high fan settings...

anyone else have issues?

dunno which forum this should be in.....sorry if its the wrong one.

If you want maximum heat, then set it to 84 with the fan on high - but for normal heating, setting the temps from 70~74 and turing the AUTO switch on will do the trick. For some reason, it initially seems as if the air through the vents isn't hot enough on AUTO, but the system actually works quite well on that setting.

I set it on AUTO for most cold weather driving and only use the manual override (at 84o for lots of heat) when I have the top down in cool weather.

I sort of have the same issue. When I have it on Auto without the temp turn up all the way, cool air usually blows out of the torso-level vents, but warm air will blow out of the footwell vents. I don't like this because it makes my hands cold, so I manually turn off airflow to the torso-level vents and let the warm air radiate out of the footwells.

If I set the temperature to 83 degrees and on face only - it blows cold air. If I set it to foot or defrost it blow warm air.
If I set it to 84 degrees, it blows warm air from any vent position.
Weird. Been that way since new.

When I put the temp on auto 20°C (the cool button off) it keeps blowing at vent speed 4 continuously and it's getting much to hot in the car. When I put on the cool button it's a mix of warm air and cold air. Is there something wrong with the climate control ?

my X3 had the nice temperture control wheel between the two mid-level vents. Having the ability to fine tune the air coming right at you was VERY nice. I wish the 1er had this..

I have the same issue as AntonV. Anyone figure out why this happens?

Since the 1er doesn't have the dash vent temp control featured on other BMW models, the dash vents are apparently set to blow cooler air. If this is a problem, you can either take the system out of AUTO mode and direct the air only to the floor, or simply turn off the dash vents.

I leave mine in AUTO with the vents on and find the car warms up very nicely with the temps set to 70~74. If you aren't getting heat after driving for a few miles, you may have a thermostsat issue.

the auto temp control seems to work find for me...although it does blow cooler air from center vents and hotter from floor....guess since warm air rises they did it that way

tho, i live in cali and we dont have real weather here either

i cannot imagine driving around with it set at 84....lol
