Another FMIC thread...

OKAY! SO I know there are a billion opinions on the FMIC's for the 1'ers. I'm wanting to see pics of all the different setups. Trying to figure out which one looks the most aggressive/visible.

pretty sure they all look the same as far as visibility goes unless there's modifications to bumper. any 7inch will take up the whole middle section...

7" will look more aggressive but requires trimming. 5" will slide right in but itll be more pushed back and not as visible.

There really isn't going to be much difference between brands as they're all aluminum, besides some have a very obvious stencil/logo on them or being painted black from the manufacturer.

If people were to post what you want, everyone is going to be taking photos at different angles, different lighting, different flash settings, different cameras. That will matter MUCH more than which brand IC they have. If you take a shot outside in winter with the car facing south towards the sun, you'll see more of the IC than if someone else takes a photo at night with the headlights on and no flash. I bet you couldn't spot the different between a CP-E, AMS, VRSF, or Cobb from 10 feet away standing. Maybe if you got down and put your face into the bumper and knew some very specific differences, but it would be a challenge.

Your concern is 90% install and 10% which brand/model IC you buy. The 10% of the IC buying part is going to be covered by some obviously having logos stencils on, or being painted black from the factory, which you can see just looking at the photos the seller supplies.

If you want stealth buy a can of black radiator paint and paint the front face of your IC, or buy one that comes black. If you want flashy, cut out the honeycomb. Which brand you get will not matter much beyond the obvious.

mine sits right up against the honeycomb on the front bumper. had to break off the tabs extending back to the stock one. there might be less than an 1/8 inch between the plastic and intercooler.

Thats what I'm looking for! Not painted black. NO goofy logos.. but nice and visible. Most likely I'll end up with a 7'

Lots of cutting and nerve racking to get that to work. Looks like they have something better for the N55 though.

Note almost all am fmics will be just half visible through the grills. Just big tom, wagner, stett or helix will cover fully. If you know what i mean... See the pic

big tom, wagner, stett or helix all have a step core so they cover up higher. But like eveyone is saying, if you want it to look "agressive" then you need a 7 inch core.

All ICs will have a very simar appearance. Trim the honeycomb and it will have a very aggressive look. Since looks will be VERY similar across all brands performance should be your main concern and, as far as performance, is concerned Cobb's FMIC is the best available.

The Helix is a great intercooler. Since you liked its design, I suggest you check the COBB intercooler as well
