BMW Tour

About a week ago talked the Fiance into taking Bimmer all the way from Indiana to Spartenurg S.C. to go the BMW plant.

If you have not taken the plant tour I would highly recommend it. You will fall deeper in love with the BMW brand.

Sadly they only make X5 and X6 SAV's there but still enjoyable. The display of other BMW's in the Zentrum is also interesting. Not as many vehicles as I had hoped for but seeing a Z8, M1 and 507 up close was worth it.

It was an 11 hour drive for an hour and half field trip but hey, I was in a BMW!!

PS...
Driving through the Smokey Mountains in the 1 didn't exactly suck

I'm interested in "BMW 101 Experience".....has anyone else heard of it? It sounds like PCD without the delivery of your car. So you can fly in and fly out.

I called my CA to get more info, we'll see.

Found out recently that PC is giving BMW CCA members a 20% discount on all driving events. Check it out.

My dad and I went and did the 101 in October. But we chose to drive down from Cleveland in the M6. It was basicaly the same as delivery (a couple people in the group were taking delivery) Very cool, you get hotel resturaunt Dinner and Breakfast, as well as a fancy Lunch at the performance center overlooking the track. You do skidpad demo, ABS control, and some basic performance driving on part of the track. Lunch. Then you drive X5's to Zentrum and do the tours, then come back for the offroad. following that you can ride a hot lap in an instructor driven M5. Finaly you can get the car introduction like you were taking delivery. It rained when we went which just made it more fun, wet, but fun.

Now with that 20% it's time to hit ol' dad up for 2 day M school

I went to the BMW Performance Driving Center in December (Thanks to United BMW ) and had a blast! We were shuttled from Atlanta to Spartanburg on a chartered bus. The itinerary for the day was:

Lunch
X5 - ‘off-road’ driving (going through water, over steep hills, rock climbing, etc.
Multi-Car Performance driving - 550, 650, X6, 135i, and 335.
M3 match race - 3 laps, best time wins (with the new M3 DCT, which was pretty nice!!! )
335 skidpad race - although we didn’t really get to ‘skid’ much
Professional Driver Race
Drive home in bus

If your dealership offers this, or the opportunity to visit the performance center you should check it out. The trip really validated my BMW purchases.

If you have the ability to go, check out the Tour they offer of the manufactory plant across the street (it’s not fully completed) but in addition to what pcb said, they are adding the X3 to their line of production at Spartanburg.

Here are pics and links to videos from Spartanburg- please excuse the excessive "talking" - you can put the videos on mute!!!

ATL to Spartanburg doesn't take that long, and we were driven there. Everyone had a great time and it was nice to test drive the cars anyway that we wanted to. I can't wait to go back for the M Advanced class. Most of their drivers are former Skip drivers and trainers so they're .

Best of all it was free- with the exception of buying my cars, LOL.

Driving in the M3 race- first video... not the second. The second video is the BMW performance professional driver.

Yes, female.

Wow, you're hot and drive a 135... you must have a line of guys down the street! :eyebulge: And I see you used to have an 'R... I had a black one with a JDM conversion my senior year of high school - 2000. Wow, just wow... None of the girls I've ever dated had any interest in sports cars.

Thanks for the compliments!

I had a phoenix yellow with mugen intake, JDM header, Buddy Club Springs/Shocks and toyo tires. - 1999

My brother was into cars, and since I admired him so much (or back then he would have said 'annoyed' him) I chose hanging around with his friends over the MALL.

I loved the championship white and the black Type-R's... I don't know what I was thinking getting the yellow... oh well the past is the past! :iono:

Very Nice, I did a performance pick up myself. Definitly agree on all accounts. It solidified my purchase and was a blast. loved the instructors always telling you over the radio NYC (not New York City folks NOT YOUR CAR) so beat on it. :w00t:
My trip was documented in the Boston Bimmer magazine. If anyone wants to read it i can scan it in and post it.

For more information about the BMW US delivery at the BMW Performance Cneter, you can go to:

www.performancecenterdelivery.com

While this is not an official BMW website, it was built by one of our students and the facts appear to be accurate.

I look forward to seeing you all!
