Yeah the one I saw at the dealership had 65k on it or something.

Wouldn't order one from a local dealer in Sydney.

Where did you see 63k? Did they give any indication of timeframe for delivery?

That was at Canberra Merc, I think the list of options will dictate the $ of course. Probably the car you looked at and the one i saw had varying options.

Not sure about waiting times, I wont buy a 2fidy, the 45 on the other hand, to replace my 1M who knows.

As others have said, RS3, 4series, 2series, there are a few choices in the next 12 months or so. In the meantime we MAY get a OPC Astra to replace the Frog, then again maybe the Mini GP that is unsold on a boat to Canberra at the moment, due in April.

Third world problems I know.

Oh, then there is the Cayman S or a Series 2 GT3 RS or just a plain old Series 2 GT3 .

Yeah fair point, the 45 will be a great car and makes sense why you are considering one.

The A250 fits my needs. GT3s are great and the series 2 997s are fantastic and Porsche's built quality/reliability is miles in front of the rest of the German stuff. I can comfortably say a GT3 isn't the right car for me, no twin pumps, not an ideal street car and too much track car for me!

Saw a A250 today. Looks decent enough. Price tag a bit steep $63k - I can get a new BMW 125i coupe with its glorious 6 cyl for that I kept thinking. I also think the coupe 1-series is a better, more expensive looking car.

Not sure if the interior is better than the 1-series or not but it probably has a better feel to it.

New BMW 125 has a 2.0ltr 4 cylinder... Which has less kw and 40 nm less torque than the A250.

Even the old 6 cylinder makes less power and has 90 nm less torque than the Merc donk.

I liked the interior of the Merc better than the outgoing (gone?) 1 series which I always thought was a bit cheapish in finish but wrapped around a great car in the 135/M guise.

BMW site still has the 1 series coupe as a 6 cyl. But the 1 series hatch it lists as the 4 cyl with 160kw (5kw more than Benz A250) and a faster 0-100km/h with the DCT. Does the coupe have the same drivetrain?

Will have to test drive the A250 back to back or may wait till the CLA is release as that looks decent from the vids and pics.

I had a good look at the A250 today. Seems like a very well built car and a hot looking hatch for sure. It seems slightly boy-racer with the red accents throughout the car including the red seat-belt, these things would not bother me if the car is good but I'm sure it would bother others.

I would only look seriously at the A45 AMG because it's AWD and the rest are all FWD. The A45 AMG will give the M135i a good run if it's priced at 85-90k.

The CLA AMG would be my pick though, I can already picture the front end of the A45 with the CLA back end, that would look great, although it will come at a premium price. Probably around RRP 1M money. The 235i will probably be the best looking and best value out of the lot as I expect it to have the N55 in the coupe body.

How tuneable is it going to be given it's running 26PSI already? Surely less tuneable than the N54/N55?

That is a very high stock boost. But while there is less headroom to play with boost, there will certainly be potential in improving flow and efficiency at the intake, IC, cats and exhaust for extra power.

Comparably sized motors running a twin scroll turbo (e.g. the 2L Evo 4G63) show there's definitely potential for more power and efficiency at the stock 26psi of this motor.

What is also impressive is the purported broad torque band. Quite wide for a small displacement turbo engine.

The fact that it runs 26psi stock suggests it's not going to be a small turbo and it's efficiency range is rather high. Yet it appears to have the responsiveness of a much smaller turbo.
Looking forward to the Geneva launch of this today/tomorrow. But even moreso the CLA45 launch whenever that is

I look at it and think modern, a touch iInterior.

Having sat in the 250 I was happy to see something more than BMW 'slab dash', that's just me I guess, and I have NEVER been a merc fan (aside from the C63 Black
of course)

Looks wise, this car is just whacky. What's with the weirdo gear lever? Looks like a mouse. You expect to see this sort of stuff on concept cars. Maybe I am just getting too old.

Got it: Imagine a Civic Type R that has been riced out to the max. Well this car is straight out of the same textbook.

i agree

the dash is way too 'busy' and the gear level looks inconvenient

it looks extremely concept car

... and i'm not even 'old'

it doesn't look mercedes, it looks a little cheapout zonda though (the air vents)
