BMWCCA New York Auto Show Sneak Preview 4/23/11
To those of us who attend the New York International Auto Show every year, here's a chance to get a sneak preview at the BMW exhibit with fellow BMWCCA members, meet some of the folks from BMWNA and sometimes (no guarantees) you can wander off and start looking at the cars before the doors open to the public!
Date: Saturday 4/23/11 - @ 9am. If there is enough interest, I will wear a 1addicts shirt and maybe we can represent our group and enjoy the show together Here's the info taken from the local CCA site. Anyone know what that arrival point actually means? Are they saying on the 11th Avenue side, but down below street level (the level where Kia, etc. usually are at the show). It's a bit confusing. |

I'll pass. Right now, it's a year or two til the replacement - Z2, Mini Roadster, Fiat Abarth, or new 1 series. My Benz is still holding up ok - no one's more suprised than I am. |

Wish I could go.
Frank - please tell Santa I want a 2012 1M in Laguna Seca with DCT. I've been a very good 1Addict this year.

I would not park in NYC if I were you. You're best bet is to park it safely somewhere in NJ and take public transportation across. Maybe a train to Penn Station/34th St or a bus to Port Authority and cab it over. Its only 10-12 blocks away.

I will most likely be there. I'll post tomorrow after finding out if the gf is in or not.
Unfortunately I don't have a 1addicts shirt to make myself noticeable, but I will be wearing some form of bmw hat (probably a 2002 hat) and I have a beard and a mohawk right now...so it should be easy to find me. Can't wait to see the 1M in person!!!!

No doubt that membership is rewarding once you're an owner. I'm still looking for BMWNA to meet minimum performance requirements first.
If it's a biggy to get on a guest list, I'll just go on my own 2 hours later. My reservation order is actually AW, but I will take the chance to see the much hyped VO color in person |

So I got to go to NYIAS today for the media sneak preview and immediately went straight to BMW to find the 1M.
As many people have said, the 1M is better in person than in pictures. The bodywork is awesome to look at, I found myself staring at the car taking it all in for several minutes. The flared fenders and track really make this car look super aggressive. The wide wheels and M treatments look great. I actually now am a fan of the dual exhaust on this car. Sitting inside, I actually liked the interior compared to what I have seen in pics. The gauge cluster is very distinctly an modern M cluster with the white backliting and light gray background. I'm digging the alcantara trim also. One thing of note, the seats were pretty much the same as my 135i. The shifter was also non-short shift but had a nicely weight M knob similar to the ZHP shift knob found in the e46s. The car at the show was the halogen headlight with manual hvac controls mule - maybe even the same car that paced the 24hr Daytona race 2 months earlier. One thing I noticed that the VIN began with WBS... - a true M car vin #. Onto some pics
