1M cats removal

Is there anything wrong with my exhaust shop just cutting out my mid cats and replacing with straight pipes. Save me having to buy the full section .

Your mid pipe(w/cats) costs upwards of $2,500 from BMW. You can buy an N55 mid pipe(no cats) for about $450 list. Probably under $400 is you shop around. I wouldn't cut out your cats. They are high flow cats.

Really IF you want a louder exhaust... I would replace the rear exhaust section. But they aren't cheap either. AK, AWE, Dinan, SuperSprint etc.

Fair enough I just thought about the extra resonator in the N55 pipes might be an issue.

I've done it myself. Cut a neat hole on top of the cat housing in the exhaust. Grind the honeycomb crap out. Weld the section you cut off back on. Clean up the welds and you'll never be able to tell.

In saying that, I had N55 mids previously and there isn't a huge difference in sound. I was expecting without the resonator it would crackle and pop a lot more.
