Newbie question re ECU tune options
Seems a lot of choice to chose from - active autowerke, procede, JB3, others. I Live in Melbourne so have read a few posts by Andrew from Southern BM who offers a choice of of the active autowerke and procede. Overseas the JB3, dinan tunes gets a few mentions. A few questions:
1) Is one tune option better than the other ?? 2) How do you decide ?? 3) Are they upgradeable when a new version comes out ?? Current car is stock but planning to add a tune, intercooler, change exhaust, and maybe more when the finances can accomodate |

Welcome to the forum mate!
You can only make up your own mind as they all have their own merits. JB seems the most popular from what I've read. Use the funciton and get comfy for a long read!!

I'd suggest pick the tuner you want to deal with rather than worrying about which tune.
I tried a bunch of tunes in my Audi - none of the tunes were very different (as much as fans swore they were) but the workshops I had to deal with, huge difference. Some... I'd never step foot in again. |

Seems the JB3 isn't as popular down here, is that right? I would have thought with the good fuel and self learn it would be a great option, especially with the Aussie dollar as it is at the moment.
I'm an ex Subi (05 Sti) tuner, so would love to chat with some Melbourne 1er tuners. |

Actually from what I know, the JB3 is the most popular and widely used tune in the Aus forums at the moment?

Thanks for the info - the JB does come up in quite a few posts and cost is cheaper. From what i could find there doesn't seem to be an aussie supplier ??, therefore my concern would be aftercare if somethings not quite right.

I have been using this for 14 months now running the 14-15 psi maps with out a single hitch. Gets the car into the 12 for the 1/4 with just tune only. Research the various options and which ever way you go, enjoy the extra power. |

Do your research and make your own mind up as there are plenty of tune nazi's on the forums.
In regards to piggyback tunes Proceed V3 CANbus is the most integrated one available, JB3 is good but not nearly as integrated, flashes are less common but likely to increase as the platform gets older here in Aus. Proceed is very well supported in Aus with Andrew@SBM in Victoria and Adrian from Vishnu in Sydney (he developed the hardware). There are many cars that have been running the tune in Aus for 50k + klms without issue which is always a good reference point as well. Proceed has also been used successfully in the Bathurst 12hr race, first year the guys ran 1st or 2nd using an early Proceed, the next year they did not do so well as they ran a Dinan flash. They are now running Proceed again from what I am told. Good luck and I'm sure you will enjoy which ever tune you decide to purchase. |
