Base M3 seats are far and different and pals in comparison with respects to the seats shown by scott's "in depth look" at the cloth seats. which also can can be found on the 125i.

Agreed, definitely. These cloth seats don't look too appetizing, but the statement that "cloth in an M would be atrocious" wasn't the right thing to say. "These cloth seats in an M would be atrocious" is more appropriate.

these pictures are useless... I know scott workes for BM and he's an insider... but what if he's not an insider at BM, he's an insider at BMW blogs and forums giving feedback to BMW... hmmm lol anyways the speedo tells nothing we'll have to wait for the official pictures... as always

The seats are different in the Winding Road pictures just posed than those Scott posted yesterday. They appear to be all cloth, and similar or identical to M3 seats. This is great news if these will be available in the the US.
However I do not understand why Scott would post pictures in a thread titled "In Depth Looks" that contains seats that appear to be vastly different from the seats we are getting based on this newer information. |

Just in case anybody missed it: The 1M will have M3 seats.
Best regards, south

I understood that, my only question is if they will be available in all cloth instead of the half cloth / half leather option that is the only cloth option available on the M3 in the US.

I'm not much a fan of the M3 seats. I wish it didn't have the headrest riser and came in an integrated seat. But the material of construction is a faux leather and cloth mix? I'm content with that..wished they used leather/alcantara instead. |

MAYBE. Right now, if you run your N54 to redline, you're not as fast as someone who shifts earlier. There's no reason to run an N54 beyond 6500 for straight line max acceleration.

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream. - Jeremy Clarkson, discussing the S65 and then S55 M3 engines. |

From the pics above I see him in 2nd gear, 50Kph at 3Krpm. My stock N54 does that - I guess the gearing won't change till 3rd and that's where the magic will happen?
The interior is leaving a lot to be desired as I kept thinking that this NEW 1M was going to be some sort of space travel auto considering all the damn hoopla and waiting. Now I'll be surprised if it actually even has a possible car alarm with a chirp. I think that BMW should have just stayed as a 135i with the Msport package actually meaning these upgrades for a difference in cost of course. This could've saved us all a ton of time. They blew their opportunity to shock the world with a roots car built to kick the shit out of everything else on the road to include the M3 as it's slowly become a yuppie car, but then I guess they'd start buying this one too so... Anyways, I'm sure I'll still be amazed once it comes out. |

Also, I haven't seen comments on the fact that the steering wheel looks like another M3 part added to the 1M... |

Alpine,
You are correct in that the steering wheel and seats will probably come from the M3. It seems only the leather and covering is different from most sport packaged BMW's anyway. This is my next question. I know on the M3 forum the bottom of the seats have been discussed many times before. SCOTT, since the 1M is intended for a younger audience, I think it would be safe to assume that they are less wide in general. Is it possible to get the seat bottoms like the rest of the world, not the fat american version. Alpine, your seat bottoms are far superior than the American version in my opinion. J. |

I really dislike the shifter setup in the M3. I would much rather have the one we have in our 135i M sport. It looks sturdy and substantial. The M3 shifter looks tall, skinny, and frail.
