Hey everyone

I've had good results from Scott Fern at Superior Shine. A lot of the prestige manufacturers use him to prep cars for the motorshow, etc. In fact he just prepared the Ferrari 458 Speciale for the Aussie launch: http://www.superiorshine.com.au/blog...-458-speciale/

If you have the time maybe consider a DIY detail?
Go to carcareproducts tell them/show them your car to assess the paint condition, buy some products and a DA polisher, watch a few online tutorials for paint correction and spend a weekend detailing? |

Mans gotta know his limitations

Any machine buffing I will leave to experts and I'm getting too old to hand rub the Meguires. I saw a Lexus RX350 in champagne colour the other day with buff/swirl marks all over it - really bad. Suspect a DIY job. What are people paying?? 400-500 bucks ok - but at 800 plus I would leave it |

I've used I think nearly all of the known detailers. OCDonline, moonlight etc. I'll give a review of this guy once i've gone with him. So far OCDonline was by far the best. That guy kicked so much ass, his attention to detail was incredible. Too bad he's gone corporate I'm organizing for this sat. |

For what it's worth, I used to use Dan/DMS (who was considered one of the best but moved to VIC), then used Lionel/OCD until he stopped working (he was great too) . . . but I would rate Scott Fern from Superior Shine to be at least as good as either of them. Biggest challenge is getting in his diary.

It's hard to compare because what I get done varies each time. Last time Superior Shine did:
General Interior Clean $60.00 + Stage One Machine Polish $220.00 = $280.00 Inc GST Might be a little more than Lionel/OCD used to charge? My last receipt from Lionel was $225 for a "mini detail"

Whilst I'm far from being a detailing master, machine buffing isn't overly difficult and with some high quality products it makes it so much easier.
Generally when you see a car with crazy swirling it can be caused by simple things such as washing the wheels first then using that contaminated sponge to clean the rest of the car, or even worse using the 'brush' at the local carlovers that is heavily contaminated. But I can totally understand the time aspect, to get great results takes time and it usually takes me a full weekend to do a full paint correction (clay, 3 stage polish and apply a sealant) but its so much more satisfying when you do something yourself |

Hmmm not great
Superior Shine -
Tried to book and website is a bit useless - you request a time that you would like without knowing if they are already booked on that day?? Then when they came back and told me they were booked out and thoughtfully offered a new day I got no reply to my email and now told I don't have a booking and booked out till next year. Obviously popular but will go elsewhere.... |
