How people used valet?
I was wondering how many people used a valet parking service with their e90. I know two guys that had valet jobs, and they advised me to never let a valet driver touch my car, because they abuse it and go on drag races with each other(of course, when the owners of the cars aren't around).
If you think my post is stupid or pointless, just click "next thread".

When downtown during the evening on weekends, sometimes there is no choice but to valet. There are simply no parking spaces and the garages are full (except that secret place where they valet your car!). I am always worried about handing the keys over, but if I smell burning clutch when he brings it back....well then I start ripping out fingernails.

I too used to be a valet a long time ago.... I can tell you some stories about what valets do with cars while people are gone. That's why I don't use a valet now... |

My BMW dealership valet's my car but that's about it. If it had an auto tranny I might be more inclined to allow other people to drive it.

I used to valet back in college. I learned how to drive a stick while working there...
If I have a choice, then I will not valet. If I have to valet, I will give the guy a $10 and tell him that if it comes back in one piece with no miles on it, he will get more. Usually works. In NYC though, sometimes it's easier to park in a lot. I always note my mileage in front of the parking attendant so he knows I pay attention to what is going on.

No and I've ended up not going places because they only had valet parking. My boyfriend was a valet so I know what goes on. If I had to valet then I would just give the guy money and park it myself.

the only way I would valet the car is as someone mentioned above ..
give the valet a 20 spot, ask him to keep it up front. when people paid, we always took care of them. |

Do you consider valet'ing the same as the NYC parking garages..b/c I actually prefer to use the garage then to park on the street....I don't want somebody playing bumper cars with my car. I parked my old car on the street once in my life...in a 12 hour period i was hit in the front, the back and my mirror was sideswiped...never again

If valet is the only thing available, then yes i will use valet. Plus it depends on where it is. A few times ive been in ritzy areas where my car is probably the crappest one they have. If im at a sketchy place, then no i dont trust valets. But you gotta do whats necessary.

I'd like to hear/read someone's valet-job story if you don't mind sharing. I'd like to know exactly what would happen to my car if I ever do leave it with you guys/girls.

when I drove to the house of blues on sunset strip there was no self parking, valet was the only option
I'd imagine lots of busy, high traffic areas have parking like this Could I have parked further away and not used the valet? Probably, but how far away and would there have even been a spot? |
