135i coupe vs. z4 coupe
This month there are huge ($7500) incentives for the 2007 Z4 3.0si coupe. This makes the z4 coupe CHEAPER than the 135i (even if the 135i is as low as $35k) because you can possibly get one (with no options) for about $30-31k (invoice minus incentive). I found one loaded up with options I don't need for $35k (PP,SP,Heated seats, M seats, titanium).
I'm curious as to what people think are the performance differences between the 135i and the z4 coupe -- especially when it comes to the handling (because we all know the 0-60 times). I know the z4 coupe is less practical, but I don't need practicality (I own other "practical" cars). Also I know I'm posting a 1-series site, but would like objective opinions as I need to choose to buy a z4 now or wait for a 135i. FYI, the z4 is cheap because the 2009 z4 is going to be refreshed. Thanks, -Raj |

The 3.0 Z-Coupe would be great - I'm only looking for two seats - but given my wife's requirements for ease of egress and entry - the Z4 coupe isn't at the top of the list. Otherwise I'd take that car at that price in a heartbeat (even if the styling might be considered 'quirky' ; -).

Those are amazing prices for what's supposed to be a pretty damn fine drive. Any chance they're offering similar discounts on the Z4 M Coupe? One of those for around $40k would be too good to pass up.

My advise is test drive the 335i coupe. The twin turbo engine is amazing. After test driving one myself either it will be this engine or the new m3 engine when it is released here. I like the shape of Z4m coupe. If i were in your shoes i would go for either z4m coupe or 135i. Nothing in between :-)

I bought a 335i sedan when it came out and realized I don't want a 4-door car -- so I sold it.
I did like the twin turbo very much, but the stats of the z4 is almost as good and we know the handling has to be better than any 3-series. z4 M is mucho $$$. At least $40k and realistically $45+. At that comparison, 135i wins by price for me. |

The difference between a 135 and Z4...
IMO 135 = A sporty car, aimed at a younger, performance minded group of people... Z4 = Mid-life crisis car, the likes of a 'vette. Sorry, but I see waaaay too many "older"(read 50+) men driving them, trying to act like they're back in their 20's... Soooo, for me, it'd be 1'er all the way... |

IF they put the N54 in the Z4 that would be my weapon of choice. I would be sold at once, but seeing as that isn't going to happen, the 1er will do.
BTW anyone know why they never put the N54 in it besides the fact that it would match straight line performance with the M? |
