Hello i am new here and my 2008 135i needs a clutch replacement being quite good in mecanics i plan on doing it my self but i have no BMW experience.
I have looked at the procedure on bmwTIS and it calls for 2 special tools to preload the pressure. does anybody know if the special BMW tools are absolutelly necessary to perform the clutch replacement ? Can i do without ? Thanks Steph |

There have been only a handfull of cars that have needed a new clutch so far. And all of them have been done under warranty or partly(split) goodwill at a BMW dealer.
You are going where no 1er (man) has gone before. Perhaps takes some pics and write a DIY on this. |

There are Special Tools for a reason. They're specifically made for one job and trust me, it'll make your life much easier.
As far as changing the clutch, its fairly simple on Manual Transmissions, Automatic = pain in the ass. Good luck!
