Question Waiting for Production Number?

It looks like most orders get a production number within a few days. I ordered a 135 coupe 9 Apr and on 27 Apr still don't have a production number.

I've ordered through military sales for delivery here in Netherlands. Does this have something to do with the delay? No answers from my dealer here.
Thanks for any advice...

It's been nine days now for me with no production number. Not as long as you but it sure sucks.

Hmm, that's odd... Yesterday I walked into my dealership, ordered a car, and walked out with a production number. I ensured that they had an open allocation beforehand... not sure if that made the difference. :iono:

Yeah, no clue what's going on. I made a "I'm still in the order bin" thread last week. That's what my salesman tells me via email. If 2 weeks without one rolls around I will get upset!

How often do they get their allocations? Or, perhaps, when?

It's hard to tell, honestly. The dealerships I spoke to were so interested in selling me a car RIGHT NOW that I wouldn't necessarily trust their info... that being said, they told me that the few allocations they have left (mine had 2) would be all they got until late summer after the factory re-opens in September.

Just got an email from my guy. He says they're still waiting on their allocation. I guess I just missed the last one when I ordered. Blah!

2 weeks for me before I got my prod # However, it still isnt trackable on the website (lists another car completely!?!) I think that has more to do with the new software than anything, so I will try and be patient and give it a few days haha...

Production Numbere

I ordered mine last Wednesday (4/23) and got my production number via email this morning from the dealer. Went to create an account on BMW and the production number was not in the system. Is this normal? Also how many digits is the normal production number?

Edited, dealer had too many digits sent me the correct one. Still shows a 2005 production so hopefully the system will update in a few days and I will see my actual car!

Thanks,
HemisphereDancer

I've been waiting for like 3 weeks.. grrr! Probably ok since I'm planning for mid- to late June delivery, but there's something about waiting without regular updates that's that much harder.

Called my CA today who told me he would know this week or last week -- nothing today but hopefully in the next couple days. He says I'm first in line for the next 135 allocation, so we'll see..

My dealer gave me my production number the minute I ordered my car.

Always check to make sure they have an open allocation before ordering!

My production number lists another car completely as well. I'm going to give it some time and check back to see if it's updated correctly. My prod # is 7 digits... I assume thats the same number of digits for everyone else?

Same problem here. I got my production number on 4/24, but on the BMW site it pulls up a 2005 X5 3.0.

I called the 800 number and it said that the production order had been placed but the production date was not final yet. I will wait a couple of days and hopefully it will be updated.

Good luck to you guys. Waiting sucks! My car has been built for 10 days now and I'm still not even on a ship yet. Currently I'm looking at another 4-5 weeks before delivery, presuming I make one of the ships coming in this weekend. I thought it would be easy to wait when the sales guy told me 6-8 weeks, but man was I wrong!

Your production order number likely won't reflect your car/config until a week or two before production. Your dealer can change/trade allocations, so your allocation will say what the original vehicle was until BMW updates it on their end.

Mine was for a jet black 135i for about a week, then it changed to my alpine white 128i. Now it's done!

I am so upset right now...My dealer promised me back on April 18th (car ordered and deposit made on April 8) that I would have a production number on April 27th. Nothing...Instead I get an emai from him that states the following:
"We are in BMWs allocation process. This starts about the 24th and can last until the end of the month. So far, we received 2 135 convertible allocations, but we haven't received any 128 convertible allocations. You are in que for an allocation and then we have to wait for BMW. How do you want to proceed?"

Any advice? Should I take my business elsewhere? Anyone else experience this crap? Thanks for the support....
