My old 540 had no cup holders....my Austrian relatives tell me Germans (and Austrians) don't drink coffee in their cars. Thats what cafes are for. Consider ourselves lucky we even have these things, and as most people are recommending, get yourself a decent travel mug !

Didn't know BMW was known for designing cup-holders. I think Dodge Caravan has the best cup holders in the industry... so I say you are correct in calling BMW cup holders stupid.
At least the one under the armrest is ventilated so it's not as hot when your Starbux Midget Latte spills onto your iPod. |

I don't mind the location of the cup holder, however I must agree that they are not nearly deep enough - should be at least 50% or even twice as deep as they are. Even driving slowly/carefully you can cause any medium sized drink to spill a bit if its full and doesn't have a totally sealed lid.

biggest flaw in e90 = cup holders. Fancy, but not functional.
If it was "deeper" and supports wider drinks(big gulp) though, it would've been ALOT better. Maybe if enough e90ers spill drinks, they might recall the cup holders and replace them with redesigned ones.

Leatherique brand products work great to condition and they also get many stains out of the leather if you don't let the stain set in for a year.

I use mine for bottled water only. As for leatehr cleaner, I would try Lexol.

Man..... This thread cracks me up.
I am just wondering how many lost sales BMW has to endure because of the ill-designed cupholder. You can only find this in America. |

I also have a cup enough for one person. Even when I was on advanced driving, my bottled water didn't fall out of the cupholder doing 160+ km/h into a corner..it did move...but it didn't fall out! The 6 Series has some nice cupholders! (if the one I saw was OEM cupholders and not aftermarket) |
