You do understand the 1M engine is just a higher boosted N54 right? So the gains won't be 100hp over stock.

Not a fan of piggyback tunes.

Have you had experience with JBs before on a 135?

What map are you running?

Wow talk about thread jacked! Guess I'll jump in too. People here really believe that a piggyback is a tune still? It's a signal modifier or manipulator. Meaning the companies working on them took the easy route in getting power. Instead of taking the time to break the dme's coding and programming, they just fool it's input and output signals to get end end result= increased power and torque. So "tuned", no. "fooled", yes. Call it what you will better or worse because of additional features, but it is not and will never be a tune. Therefore, since it is not built into the dme's logic, it will never be as smooth as a true retune. Period. To say that a tune isn't capable of advancing timing beyond the factory range is truly ignorant. The true tuners have complete control and can do what ever they want with the engine, when ever they want. Any of the piggy backs proactively increase the water pump speeds with higher boost levels? Nope, just a little food for thought there. Piggybacks are reactive, where tuning is proactive. Now try to argue that last statement.

So you are saying that the Piggybacks tune the signals from and to the DME to a specific level?

So how does it compare? How would you compare the 1M stock and piggybacked with the 08 when it was piggybacked?

Did you transfer over your other mods as well?

Yep. Simple resistance changes for various sensor inputs/outputs fools the dme into thinking the boost, throttle, air temp, etc are different than they really are so the dme corrects for the altered signals.

So we are in agreement, the piggyback is tuning the car?

I'm not sold on this. I am not convinced a piggyback is the same as a tune. Piggybacks overheat at the track is what I have heard.

Anyone?

I've never heard that before. Not saying with certainty that it hasn't happened, but that is a new one on me. At least as far as the JB3/JB4 goes. I haven't heard anything on the other systems either though to be honest. Are you saying that the engine is overheating, or the piggyback unit?

The engine overheating at the track with the piggyback units.

Guys -

Any tune -- whether piggyback or flash -- can cause an engine to overheat depending on settings and use. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the mechanism used to change the stock tune.

Among flash tunes there is Cobb, GIAC and maybe a couple of others. Among piggybacks Burger Tuning's Juice Box and Vishnu Tuning's Procede -- both available with a number of different maps-- are available.

Depending on which map you choose, the hardware on the car (oil cooler, larger FMIC, downpipes, meth injection, etc.), the octane gas, and the use, they can produce lots of additional power and work very well.

Neil

The problem is the piggy backs are not as reliable and often throw codes or go into limp home modes. They may be okay for daily use and a couple HPDE days, but if one is serious about tracking their 135/335 or 1M a true flash is the safer and more reliable way to go.

Perhaps, but I believe that reasonable minds can differ
