I like variety. I have a set of 18s, stock 19s and 20s for this car.

Looks absolutely fantastic! Reminds me of the rims on the etched 1M (early design study) eager to see more (side) shots.

Not sure on where the 20" skepticism is coming from? Don't larger rims generally have less tire side wall deformation, thus provide more control therefor more fun?

Agree, it seems a bit too large. But one thing is for sure, be ready for a stiffer ride on those 20ies...

I was apprehensive at doing 20's because they do look rather large on such a small car but I think the 20's with the deep concave rears really adds to all the lines of the 1M. It looks like someone stretched out the rear quarters and then pushed in the centers of the wheels. I like them for my "show" setup and for the track I have a different setup as well as for cold weather.

I think people over exaggerate the wheel/tire size in regards to ride quality. Yes, it obviously does make it a little more firm than stock, but the suspension components made a much larger difference in ride quality. Right now I have it set very stiff so the ride is extremely harsh but I can make it softer to the point that even with the 20s it has a better ride quality than stock.

I agree with most of what you are saying, but no matter how much you adjust the suspension on a 20" wheel you will never get near stock quality ride even with stock suspension.

people adjust their springs all over the place to achieve a more firm ride, using lower wall tires, is just a different way to achieve that... !

Is there any weight penalty?

Looked up the 1M design study etch with the 5 spoke concave wheels, that your wheels remind me of: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=524385
