Track day at Mosport (videos)
Hello all. Another track season started for me last week at Mosport International Raceway. This is a relatively high speed track. It was a wonderful day with 18-20 degree Celsius temperature and no rain.
First time using brand new Bridgestone RE-11 tires (as opposed to the Dunlop Direzza Star Spec's last year), along with Vorshlag front camber plates to dial in -2 degrees of negative camber. I'm on stock suspension otherwise and no engine power mods. Using 8x17" OZ Ultraleggera rims on all 4 corners for a square setup (235 35/R17 tires). Bottom line, I was only 0.3 seconds faster in my laptime compared to my fastest recorded lap last year. It certainly felt subjectively like I was able to push harder in the corners compared to last year, but I'm only marginally faster. It may be a combination of just the first time tracking this year after a long winter, and maybe the new Bridgestone tires with full tread depth (the Dunlops were already well broken in and tread worn when I set my fastest time last year). Anyways, here are some videos: Fastest recorded lap: A few laps when I chase down a yellow F430 Scuderia (while being passed by race cars as well). Chasing my friend's C63 AMG with the same Bridgestone RE-11 tires.....that car is damn fast down the long back straight. A black E92 M3 gets passed quite quickly along the way.

Awesome videos, I'm thinking of getting the same setup as you, 17x8et40 all around. Do you think 245/40/17 would fit on the ultraleggera's?

I'm sure the actual 245/40/17 tires would fit on the 17x8 ET40 rims, but the only question is whether you will experience any rubbing with the fenders given the wider tires and 40 offset, especially at the front. I'm not too sure, as I think some members have said they rub with that tire size/setup.

I've been tracking since 2007 (started in my C55 AMG). Since then, the biggest "mod" has simply been practice and becoming more comfortable to push and drive on a track.

nice laps! Thats a really long back straight! BTW, I have 245/40/17 Ecsta XS on 17x8.5 et 40 all around and have no issues with rubbing on stock suspension (no camber plates).
