Bang for your buck Tyres

Hi guys,

Situation: seriously broke
Car: BMW 130i
Location: western Sydney

Guys has anyone got any recommendations for a high performance cheap tyre? I've just realized my Tyres are almost bald!!! I've got Faulken 452s on them at the moment and so far they have been fantastic except for the road noise. Has anyone got any recommendations for Tyres and a good tyre shop? This was not planned at all!!

This

Better than the 452's (my last set) at half the price, my 452's had tons of tread then suddenly none, the last bit is horribly fast wearing.

I got them from tempe too, 235/245 on 8.5/9.5, change sizes to suit whetever wheels you have

Yeah, i had 225s all round on my old 130i. But I had an 06er. IIRC 08+ have 245s standard in the rears.

IMO ... Khumo KU31 for best price to performance option followed by KU39 series which will give better performance but about 15% higher in price. I've been told the new Falken 453 have way less noise than the 452 but they are more expensive than the KU39.

I'm going to get some Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2

Looking at reviews of Falkens and Khumos they don't rate very high as far as wear and noise.

Think about how broke you are now and if you can afford to replace tyres twice when you could buy a decent set that will last you twice as long.

I thought the Falken 452 was supposed to be decently hard wearing. How many Km did you get on your last set?

I had 452's on my 3 ser and thought they were good value for money and a decient trye at that. May not be a MPSS but perfect for a daily driver. Someone reccommended Hankook V1 which I have on the car now but I cant wait to get them off (wifes car now so not too worried). I don't track my car so I think when the 1er needs to get off the RFT's I'll go with either a Khumo KU39 or the Falken 453

Did they have any Ovations as well?

As some others have said KU31s will be fine for your use. Decent tyre for the price.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your replies. I ended up getting the KU 39s 245/35/18 rear and 215/40/18 up front. Cost me 840 all up including alignment.

Omg what a difference... I can actually hear the engine over the sound of the Tyres! So far so good, a very quiet tyre and super grippy in the dry. Ill post up more thoughts as the weeks progress.

Overall a good buy

F1's are good buying at the moment. Goodyear Autocare are running their 443 Sale until Easter.

Just got a quote (From GY Autocare) for GY Eagle F1 Directional 5 - 225/45-18 F | 245/40-18 R = $885 fitted, balanced and alignment.

Think I'll go with that.
