New owner from Chicago

Hello, guys, just traded in my 08 UG R32 and got the 08 Monaco Blue 135I coupe with 51k mills on it. I have dreamed about this car since 08 and have always been jealous of you guys while I was still driving the R32. Hands down the 135i is just the better car, my only concern is the rwd and the winter here in Chicago, but I will deal with it. For now though I am having lots of fun.

Congrats on the new car! I can't give you any pointers on RWD vehicles in snow, We don't get alot of that down here.

You could always upgrade your wheels when you wear down the tires, then put snow tires on the stockers for winter driving.

You will DEFINITELY need snow tires on this car. I took my time buying them the winter after I bought my car (bought it in spring) a couple years ago. When the first snow storm hit, I was still on the stock tires.....i missed my train to work because I couldnt get my car up a hill into the parking lot because I couldnt get ANY traction. When I got to work that day, I ordered snow tires. It's like night and day. Its actually fun driving these cars in the snow with snow tires

I was thinking about buying the winter tires with wheels for it, but it is going to be $1200 from tire rack and I am so good with potholes in the winter that I better stick with another ride for those 3-4 months. Thankfully my dad is buying a new car soon so I might just buy his old one and use it during the snow. I will save some miles on the 135I too.

Hello! I traded my APR Stg2 MKV GTI for my 135i and have never looked back. You won't regret your decision, this car is so much better! Were you on the golfmkv forums?

Yeah, everything seems to be better with this car other than traction on wet surfaces. I was on the vortex forum but only posted in the mkvr32 section.
