Fuel injector gone bad - leaking
Diagnosed a leaking fuel injector on a 2009 BMW 135i. All the injectors on the car are 1353 7585261-05. As I understand it, I can replace the one bad injector, but I need to program the computer with new values?
Does anyone have any more detail? Can the newer injector part number be mixed with the older part? Thank you! -Joe |

BMW states you should replace the injectors in sets of 3 (part# 13538616079), not individually, you also need the decoupling element (part# 13537564751)

So if injector 2 is bad, I need to replace 1,2 and 3, but can leave 4,5 and 6 using the old part #?

You can not mix old model injectors with new model ones in the same bank. I replaced 1,2 and 3 with the new model but 4,5 and 6 are still the old model.
If you can fine the old model then you can just replace the one bad one. |

I've replaced just the single injector without issue (N54 engine). Before I replaced the injector, I was getting code P2097 - post catalyst fuel trim too rich in bank 1. Other symptoms were misfire in cylinder 2; I moved the coil packs around and still had misfire in cylinder 2. Pulling out the spark plug in cylinder 2 revealed a plug soaked in gasoline.
After replacing the injector, and setting the injector values in the engine computer, I got the P2097 code again. I deleted the adaptation values for the lamda flow and drove the car on 4 trips so far without any check engine light. The engine runs smooth and power is normal. The old part number was 1353 7585261-05 The new part number is 1353 7585261-12 I bought the injector from getbmwparts.com and the OBDII cable from tmart (http://www.tmart.com/Interface-USB-O...W_p101210.html). You can just replace the one, but it has to be same last two index numbers(05) and will have to be married to the DME via dealer. Not a diy at home unless you plan to have towed to the dealer afterwards...replacing an injector should just be done at the dealership.

No issues after replacing just one injector - it's been about 6 months now.
