Wheel alignment after changing wheelset.
Some weeks ago I installed a set of new Breyton GTS-R's with Michelin PS2.
Since I concluded an unusual tire wear pattern especially on the inner side of the front tires, so I had to go for an alignment. Did your controls had to be aligned after a new set of wheels ? |

no. new wheels do not require an alignment. Alignments are required when messing with suspension related items (changing shocks, springs, control arms, etc). Changing wheels and/or tires does not fall into that category.
Your abnormal wear does indicate you need an alignment but that is not related to swapping wheels. |

changing your wheels WILL change the alignment somewhat. What I mean by 'somewhat" is camber settings. The toe and caster will remain the same.
Wheel widths, tire width and pressure and thread will effect how the alignment. AND since your issue was with worn tires (ie not square thread profile) your new alignment is not correct for new tires that are on the car now. I would have your alognment atleast rechecked. better safe and another worn out set of tires in the near future! |

I have adjustable KW v2 coilovers. Would raising the height of my vehicle affect alignment ?

Changing wheels will not change camber as that is set by the strut, hub and wishbones mounts.
Changing wheels will not change allignment as previously posted, it may give rise to spotting allignment issues not noticed before as tyres may be wider and softer after thus wear more readily. If your camber changes because of wider wheels then something is worn out and being shifted by the greater leverage a wider wheel is applying to the suspension.... |

Macca, my thoughts exactly
The only reason that people say you should get new alignment when changings wheels/tires is that the camber/toe/etc can slightly change under everyday driving (hitting potholes, curbs, bumpy roads) and a wheel/tire change is the ideal moment to re-align things... Am I correct on this? |
