The Official "How Obsessive are you about Your BMW" Poll

I figured I'd start a poll to find out exactly how anal and obsessive you guys are about your Bimmer and to see if any of you even come close to me.

Just to put things into perspective, I won't let ANYONE drive my car unless they absolutely have to (such as the guy at Tires Plus who wouldn't let me drive my car onto the lift), I clean off the inside door handle with my shirt everytime I get out, I dust my dashboard every night, I wipe down my iDrive knob, seat and shifter knob everynight and usually take a MicroFiber to the front of the car to polish up the Roundel.

I also tell everyone getting in my car not to touch the wood trim and to watch their feet when swinging them inside. And when they get out to use the exterior door handle to close the door and not to touch the B-pillar. Probably a few other things I can't think of right now too.

Oh, and I keep a small stash of Microfiber cloths in the trunk for cleaning emergencys.

Yeah, I'm crazy.

Even as a non-owner, I find myself obsessing. I check the status of my car (ordered 8 days ago) at least twice a day.

I wipe down the hood almost everyday because of all the debris and bugs.

My obsessing stopped once I got my first ding/chip at the airport. As long as it still handles and accelerates like I expect it to then I'm getting what I paid for.

i dust my car everyday after driving from work. then i wash it myself whenever i have time at least once a week. mystic blue is kinda hard to maintain because the dust kinda gets visible and takes away the shine pretty easily.

i also try to tell people my rules which is kinda difficult because they might think that im mean and rude to them just because i drive a bimmer.

I know what you mean. But it's important to me that people coming into my car follow my rules so they either follow them or they don't get in.

Why do you say that? I think I have a feeling why, but just wondering. I bought a CCD about a month ago and it was a complete waste for me. I dusted my entire car with the thing and then noticed it left a residue all over the car. I had to spend another hour wiping it all down with MFs.

I just bought a Mequires Microfiber duster that's the same size as the California Car Duster (and looks similar to with the handle and all) about a week ago and it rocks! Picks up all the dust just as a microfiber cloth would, and leaves no residue like the CCD.

in the CCD's bag there's a small tag that says it would leave streaks because it has paraffiin wax and it should go away after 3 or 4 use. i never had problems with the streaks cause they dont show on my car that much and i follow up with a quick damp cotton cloth wipe with wax residue in it. (i use the same cloth that i use in waxing)

where'd you get the Mequires MF duster by the way?

I love driving my car...but it's just a car. I don't freak out if someone spilled something on the seats as they can always be cleaned. There are more important things in life for me. Many people here would like to spend every weekend washing their cars and that's perfectly fine with me (do what you love to do). I would rather do something else, simple as that. Oh, and I don't have any rules

I wish I could be more Obsessive of my Bimmer but, the job won't allow me time to embelish my Bianca.

I hate driving a car that is not clean - inside and out. Fortunately I am able to garage the car which is a big help. Clutter, dust, brake dust, water spots, dirty windows, etc. do NOT last long on any of my cars.

Eating and drinking is fine as long as any mess is cleaned ASAP. I stick with the all weather mats year round - easy to clean and spills are not a worry.

Zaino is a must with an occasional add on layer which makes the car easier to clean.

Hmmm, good idea but missing a distinction between running the car through a mere car wash and having a hand car wash every week PLUS for me the question of something spilling on my leather seats wouldn't occur - nothing but bottled water comes into the car unless it's sealed and in a grocery bag.

I tend to wash once a week during the Summer, and whenever I feel bold enough during the Winter.

I think that owning jet black makes you just a tiny bit obsessive, as such a colour shows up so much dirt!

I love my car, and love driving it but I am not obsessive about cleaning it. I've been there, done that with other cars ... too much work and too time consuming, and frankly, not healthy. There are more important things in my life than my car. I wash and vacuum it once a week.

I know I'm cured of obsession because one time a couple of days after I washed my car a bird pooped on the hood. I drove around with the bird crap for 5 days till the next wash.

I detail cars for a living. I think obsessive would be an understatement at this point.

Yep it's the only thing that I don't like about the color. I didn't realize it would be so hard to keep clean. The dust really shows on the hood especially.

LOL good timing for this poll as I just finished with my weekly washing.

In my experience with any duster you tend to never get all the dust and end up using the MF towels to clean it again. If your car is dirty and you dust your car with the duster. You will drag any dirt across and scratch the paint. It only took me one time to do this and I quit using it. If there is anyother duster that will not scratch the paint let me know.

good lord, it's a 3-series, not an M6.

How about an option for "once every 4-6 weeks, like most cars"
