There really isn't that much room to be pushing the rims out. Even a couple of milimeters will cause rubbing on the fenders... Especially if the car is lowered.

Andrew,

12mm will space them evenly. The original poster was asking what is the maximum to push them to the edge.

I also experimented with 10mm and 15mm with the same purpose, to space them evenly. 10mm was close, not bad really. 15mm was noticeable and gave an aggressive stance. Rears were pushed out more than the fronts with 15 and was at the limit of my comfort level for "tasteful" mods.

10-12mm = even with front, the way it should have been stock
15mm = agressive look
18-20mm = max, but will be out of proportion with the front

This above is for stock 18" wheels with ZSP. If you have different offsets, 19-20" rims, dropped suspensions, then others may have better info.

Below is the one photo I have with 162's with the 15mm spacers on. It's not a perfect pic, but you get the idea. Took the pic as I was removing the 162's to install CSL reps.

thanks jackmac... 15mm is too much for the look i'm wanting to achieve... i am going to keep the stock 162 rims.

so should i do 10 or 12mm? i want it to look just right... ("even with front, the way it should have been stock").

i want to order these so they are ready to install the day i get the car.

thanks again.

For myself, I would go with 12mm. Here are pics with my 10mm. 10mm is good too, but felt like it could use just a little more.

Top pics stock, bottom pics 10mm.

Andrew, I didn't measure, but 10mm looked like a match with the front offsets. 12mm would just give it a little sportier look, but only you or another E90 owner would even notice.

thats what I thought thank you for the help.

Those were all of the pics I have. 162's are off the car at the moment. You can find full size "without" pics all over this forum.

I would recommend 10mm for what you are trying to achieve. If you don't like it, you can always resell them here on the forum and get the other size.

I just put 15mm spacers on the rears with 8.5" wheels and am very pleased with the more subtly more aggressive and balanced look. Even the relatively wide wheels looked a little too sunken in before. Not sure if 20mm would be pushing it too far.
