Start car without key...how to switch lights off now?

Hi,

This has been discussed earlier, but incase u did not know, you can actually start the car without the key.

Start car...keep foot on clutch...remove key...foot is still on clutch..press start...cars starts up!! Now u can actually drive without the key!!

The problem is...once you arrive, how do you switch off the car?? If you press the stop, the engine goes off but the lights are still on (radio and some dash lights). How do you completely turn off the car without having to put the key back in/out?

Thanks skimo

Well, that's how my comfort access system works. When I push stop, the engine goes off but the lights and radio and some dash lights are still on.

To turn them off:
1. Either lock the car with the key fob or key
2. Push the start stop button again(no foot on clutch/brake) - this turns off the radio and dash lights - you then need to open the door to turn off the "parking lights" which stay on until the door is opened.

Hope this helps...

Ps. Why are you driving without your key anyways?

1.walk to car and unlock
2.put key in
3.start car
4.shut off car
5.pull key out
6.start car
7.get out lock car
8.walk inside
9.wait
10.unlock and get back in
11. drive away in cool car all sweaty form doing all these steps.

You are funny, sorry for being a smart ass.

I did this with my auto, it was kinda cool to drive around without the key in place. Whenever I got where I was going, I just pushed the start/stop, then opened the door and got out, like usual, and everything turned off.
I did think later that in my hood, I could just see me getting pulled over and not have the key in place

Maybe not the 'Nard you think. Right on the north side of 101, between Del Norte (dump) and Rice (Costco) See "the little people" walk to Wright's market every night about dusk to get the $1.99 meal deal; 24oz Bud and Top Ramen (hot water included)

Yeah I've been to the slums in Oxnard where my friend grew up. A few shootings reported, etc.

#1 mexican population in the US by the way also. Just stating a fact has no relevance to anything.

I know,

you can turn off the lights by going to the trunk and disconnecting the battery!

Then you'll have the perfect efficient system

Comfort Access??

How do you have Comfort Access, if it's not available until September production??

Its not dumb when you come back to your car 3 hours later to find your interior lights are still on even though you locked the car with the key fob before leaving.

Locking the car with the key fob does not switch of the interior lights in my car. The only way was to put the key back in, then out. I was asking to see if there is another way (or something is wrong with my vehicle).

No. The software is different to the Comfort access cars.
Another way to turn everything off, is open the door...then push the start/stop button (WITHOUT foot on clutch) until eveything turns off

I have had my car for a week, it has comfort access but I just noticed that if you press the start/stop button for a long time (eg 1 second) it stops the engine AND turns off the lights and radio. Press it for a short time and it only stops the engine and leaves the radio on like you said.
The manual is rather sparse on this information and didn't really explain the two modes.
