Check Engine Light! Water Problem

omg im so nervous right now!.... i was on my way home when it started raining...... when i was close to home when i passed a small 5 sec street full of water like really full!... i went through it and 1 min later the check engine light turned on!.... is it anything i should worry about!... im planing on taking my car to the dealer tomorrow...

please need some advise something i could do!

i tried to let it warm up so maybe the water evaporates... after a few minutes the light went off... so i tried to drive it around see if its ok... i drove for not even 10 meters and light was on again and engine hearing really bad!!

please what should i do!

It's hard to say what, if anything, you did to your bimmer. The worst possible thing is if you got water into the air intake of the engine. Water does not compress anything like air so it can damage the engine. You probably did not do this, however. In an extreme case it will lock an engine up where it will not turn.

If you did not do that, the most likely things are electrical. And they may fix themselves when things dry out.

The best thing to do is to find somebody with a OBDII code reader and see what codes it is throwing. It takes maybe 15 minutes and is VERY simple. But you need the tool. It is not a BMW tool. If you know anybody who works on cars a lot they probably have one, even if they work on trucks or something. All cars sold in North America have the same connectors and most of the codes are common to all brands. If you cannot find anybody with one, some places that sell parts for cars will do this for you. The dealer and other places that repair cars can do it too but they charge up to $100 to do it.
