1st MSP Delivery

Well folks, it's been an "interesting" few months in which I put in an order with a stateside dealer, canceled due to family issues and THEN got a call from my MSP dealer with the offer of a slot. On Wednesday it all culminated in Munich when my brother-in-law and I picked up this:

My Welt delivery was a bit of a letdown so I didn't take many pictures but yesterday I made a side trip to:

I managed 4 laps before a motorcycle accident closed the Ring down for a while. I'm hoping I got spotted on track more than once though, lol.

All in all it was a good trip. I managed to get half of the break in miles knocked out so far without going past 5k rpm and keeping the traction control on (which was a PITA exiting the corners at the Ring).

And finally, one last shot from home...

EDIT: Oops, I completely forgot to mention spec. I kept it simple opting for just heated seats, H/K radio with iPod/USB and the (required) BMW Assist/Bluetooth. Gotta say that the BT is a welcome surprise. Didn't want it but love the interface with my phone.

Thanks,

Drill

Thanks. I've got to hit the sack soon but just real quick...

I've already installed iCarbon Kidneys, Weisslicht LED Halo bulbs, Macht Schnell scoops, Lamin-X Headlight covers (but will have to re-do due to bubbles from a rush job), installed EU spec light switch to enable rear fogs, installed EU spec drivers side mirror and I tried (and failed, lol) to install the CF Performance Spoiler (but the betalink kicked my @ss).

It was a combination of things. We reserved 2 spots on the English factory tour last month but when we got there we were told that the tour had been cancelled due to an employee meeting (information which would have been nice to have had BEFORE my Brother-in-law spent 4 hours in the car just to tour the factory). Then we were asked about a German tour, we said yes, but they were booked... same thing for the Welt tour. Then I commented that we could just split the next 5 hours between the free food/drink in the lounge and the Museum and they told us that the Museum was only partly open because of storm damage from the week before. It turns out that partly open was just the Art car exhibit, nothing else was open (i.e. 70% was shut down). All in all it wasn't "Bad", just that we couldn't actually see what we went there (and paid) to see. The people were all fantastic, it was just closures/cancellations, and lack of notice, that dulled the experience.

Glad to see that the EU spec light switch can be used. I installed one on my '08 135 and have been wondering about transferring it to the 1M (whenever it arrives).

Congrats! I recall all the anguish you went through for months, at least your persistence and perseverance paid off at the end. Safe driving!

If you wanted it as bad as he did, and fought to get one, I would be inclined to consider you in anguish also.

LOL. With all due respect to Drillsiinger, I can guarantee I worked harder to get my own allocation. Perhaps you haven't been following recent events here, but I made calls to something on the order of 150 dealers searching for an allocation for Euro Delivery for myself.

Frankly, who cares who had to work hard/harder/hardest to secure an allocation. At the end of the day, both of you guys got cars, you should be happy for both yourself personally, and one another, not bitter and brag about who paid a bigger emotional toll securing one. At the end of the day, the efforts of both of yous got rewarded, that's all that matters.

I'd like to think that the "anguish" was inflicted on all the poor folks who had to listen to me b!tch and couldn't do anything to help, lol

I think what we're seeing isn't about who worked harder or longer but rather, this is the kind of car that you have to go out there and find

Tried that already but it was a PITA to get a decent (not even good) pic, lol. I'll keep trying but can add that they're not as bright as the halogens (nearly disapear in daylight) but at night they look gooood
I'll try to remember to take a shot or 2 when I get home

We tried to give you options though , glad it all worked out. Besides, this gives you a reason to head to Oktoberfest this year, you have to go back and do the Welt tours.

Yes... and No

I ordered the set from HP AutoWerks
http://www.hpashop.com/product.sc?pr...categoryId=259

But from the Bimmian site the bulbs themselves look like the RD or Ebay Competitor Bulbs... (See below)

So now I'm a little curious. Also, the box was plain black, no WeissLicht logo? Maybe Harold @ HPA can confirm?

Yeah, I annoyed about 20+ dealers throughout the Southeast with emails based on y'all's options, lol. Even got an allocation from BMW of Ocala before having to give up the idea altogether. Then just a few days after those family matters... got ?better? I got a call from Pam @ Cars International telling me that she had a slot for me if I was ready. She had everything she needed THAT DAY
