Bmw i3 wheels as space saver wheel?

Saw an i3 on the road yesterday and noticed the rims are quite thin. Assuming the stud pattern and center bore is the same as the 1 series, would they be suitable as a spare wheel?

Bmw spacesavers are hard to find so the i3 wheel could be an alternative?

Wow didn't realise they were 19". I guess they would clear big brakes. For my wheel diameter 225/40r18 a 155/50r19 or 155/55r19 tyre size would match. None of those tyres exist yet.

The i3 wheels are also quite expensive. I went with a steel (winter)wheel from a e46 330ic. Its the proper offset(ET47 I think?) and it's a 7j x 17 wheel. I then bought a cheap tire for it. I used to have a space saver tire(from a 335i: 4j 17 with a thin tire on it) - but the first time I used it it was down right scarry on the rear axle. Never again. Thats when I bought my full size steelie. I've posted pics of it before... just do a search.

Another option would be the Mitsu Galant space saver - seems to fit. Also do a search.

That is also only the base model size, most of them will have 20".

If you look up the car on Tirerack, they do have aftermarket wheels available in the 19" size for only around $200. But again, the large diameter of the tire is an issue.

Why not just get a generic bmw rim and tyre?

I would rather have a full size RFT spare than a spacesaver

I understand what blingers wants. A full size spare will take up the entire trunk.

When I bought my car the previous owner threw this in as part of the sale:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/en/showpa...diagId=36_1274

Apparently hard to get, realoem list it as dealer/servie vehicles only. Wonder what would happen if you just gave the part number to a dealer?

Is only a 125 tyre, looks more like a square motorbike tyre. In total with the bag it weighs around 13kg. Even so, still takes up too much boot space on an e82 so I just leave it in the closet.

Only place I've seen selling them is this website:

i3 wheels are around $3000 a set. I looked into it while trying to work out winter options on mine.
