Negotiating Leverage When Ordering ???

My wife and I will soon be looking to purchase a '13 128 Convertible...Instead of waiting for the combo package we're looking for,, ordering one may be our better option. That said, how much are dealerships willing to negotiate on price, if at all, when ordering a vehicle.... My wife currently drives a Mini Sport convertible and looking to Step it up to Big brother...... :-) ...... When we ordered the Mini, there was no negotiating on the price at the time.... She will only drive a manual tranny.....

Thanks,
Eddie

Based on what me and others here are seeing you should be able to get between $500-$1000 over invoice on an ordered vehicle. A couple months ago I went in with a spreadsheet laying out the car & options at MSRP & invoice. I offered $500 over invoice and they agreed. As the deal progressed thay added a couple hundred in BS items but I was still under $1k over invoice so I was happy.

I actually tried to negotiate for a new 2011 leftover they happen to have in stock but they weren't willing to take that much off so I just ordered a 2012 exactly the way I wanted it.

Go in at $500 over invoice and work from there. If you end up at less than $1k over invoice you did ok.

Edmunds and KBB. In a couple cases there were some slight differences so in that case I just went with the lower number. But the differences were small and probably didn't mean anything relative to what I ultimately paid.
