Car automatically revving?!

This has happened twice so far. I turned on the ignition of my car, and my car automatically revs up to about 3,500-4,500 RPM area then goes back to normal idle.

I got a little freaked out when it happened -- I thought maybe the pedal was stuck or something?

Has this happened to anyone else? Or has anyone else heard of this?

I drive a 2010 128i.

Thanks.

I've heard of the same problem in the 335i, but not on the 128i. I don't think it's anything to go crazy over though. There isn't a fix for it in the 335i either if you're wondering.

It`s normal a litle bit when you play with the clutch but not when I turn on the car.

Mine has done it during certain shifts. I have had my car about 14 weeks and the revs hang a little more since I first picked it up. Thought it might be the car "learning" my driving style.
