Front bumper carbon fiber?

Hi All -

Is the front bumper on a 1M carbon fiber? If not, could a CF front bumper from an e92 be made to work?

The front bumper on the 1M is plastic. You could cut a E82 bumper and add the E92 styling too it similar to how LTMW makes 1M bumpers for F80/E92/E90 etc.

Sorry, I did not mean bumper covers. I mean the steel bumper. Sorry for the confusion.

Ralph put an e92 M3 front bumper on an e90 M3 and got the cover to work.

Hmmm - so that makes me wonder if I could somehow manage to fit an e92 CF front bumper under a 1M front bumper cover and make it work. I'm willing to try it if there is a pretty high degree of confidence it would work.

it is entirely possible. just look at the LTMW 1m bumpers for e9x and e9x M. The even made an F30 bumper with 1M / M6 front.

If you're talking about the "beam" under the bumper cover, I don't think it is carbon fiber on the M3 -- pretty sure it's some sort of FRP (i.e. reinforced fiberglass).

Ralph did that upgrade on the e90 M3 race car and he thought it was CF. But whatever it was, it was a decent weight savings.
