I got a Toyota Yaris last time they were out of loaners. I complained that nobody should have to be driving these things and all I got was an apology.

You might try asking for a BMW when they can provide it. Your need may be longer term than most so there are probably days they can give you a bimmer and days they can't. If you are willing to go back and forth they might do it.
I have two vehicles so I have mostly just gotten a ride to my other vehicle (a non-BMW SUV). But that creates a hassle when I need to pick it up so I got a loaner (bimmer) last time. That was fine but not entirely hassle free either. I drive rental cars for work and I get annoyed by their lack of features and quality too. But for a few days, I can endure it. Sometimes I remind myself that for a good portion of my life, any relatively new car would have been an improvement. Jim

I was once stuck with Volkswagon Beetle for a couple of days when there weren't any loaners available. Took a good ribbing from the guys at the office when they found out about it. Life is humorous sometimes.

Yeah it all depends on your area, dealerships are free to do whatever they want regarding loaners, at my dealership if you don't schedule a loaner or if they don't have one in a emergency situation then you're taking the courtesy van. They don't offer anything else so it's usually first come first serve, thankfully Bimmer's aren't a dime a dozen in my area so there's usually a loaner available.

I think they put my new top on in a day because I had a loaner. They wanted it back. That was fine with me. I dropped my car off early on a Thursday morning and dropped the loaner getting mine back Friday morning. One day to replace the top was pretty quick. I think they took 2 or 3 days the previous time when I just had them drop me at home and drove my SUV.

They pulled up with a Toyota minivan last time I had service done. I refused to get into it & demanded another car. Then I got a new Chevy SUV. Huge improvement over the minivan. First time I havent had a BMW loaner in 13 years of BMW ownership. Let's just say I wasn't pleased.

My understanding is that they don't have to provide a loaner at all.... As an aside.... The Mercedes dealership in town uses used cars (mercedes) and sometimes enterprise. I think BMW still has em all beat!

Man, there are a lot of folks on here who feel entitled. Wow. There was a time when a loaner for service was unheard of.

I couldn't get a loaner because I am not 25. I'm glad I got a rental because each time it has been 3-4 days till I got my car back and I would be screwed without it.

There was also a time when service rates weren't $100+/hour and you didn't need to pay $500 parts/programming for a $100 battery replacement. |

Yup, in the 1990's BMW never offer any loaners, it was Lexus only. I remember my bro had an E38 7 series($70k at the time) and we got no loaner during service.
