iDrive hacks?

I have searched the forum and google and came back some products here and there but no real DIY or reviews for any of the products out there...

Is it possible to hack the iDrive in any way? What I really want to do is add a carPC and then be able to use the iDrive screen for the iDrive as well as the carPC.

In a perfect scenario I also want to use the iDrive controller to control the PC, but right now I need to figure out how I am going to get the pc to display on the existing lcd screen.
