Good news! I was worried that the 1M wouldn't be covered for some reason.

Are you able to answer my MINI comparison i requested a few days ago?

I've had a great comparo sent to me and was interested in your opinion too.

In particular, clutch weight, gear gates and throw etc.

Cheers,

Mark.

They might be more open about asking the color of their underwear, but hey, perhaps they are in a generous mood ...

- What is the 1M's spring rate in [N/m]?
- What is the 1M's damping rate in [Ns/m]?
- How does the 1M shock's damping rate compare to the M3 non-EDC ZCP shocks (that were spotted on the Chicago promo car) in [Ns/m or % or ...]?
- How does the 1M shock's damping rate compare to the M3 EDC shock settings (Comfort, Normal, Sport, ZCP Sport) in [Ns/m or % or ...]?

I may not get exact answers, but I hope to get some that will shed light on your questions. Lets see.

I'm going to post some more images from the trip tonight.

I had difficulty uploading photos and video during the trip so there was a lot more I wanted to share at the time and couldn't. Here are more of the images and some things that came to mind when I saw these images again:

Here is a shot of the Entrance, from the inside, of the BMW Welt:

I have a few more photos from this area, including a couple shots of a AW 1M on displat while I was there. It was a preproduction unit with Chrome Window treatment. I'll load them next in the "tour" images.

I mentioned that you signed in upstairs in a wonderful lounge with a cafe, and that I had seen my car from up above. Here are the stairs that lead down from the lounge to the delivery area. The photos after this were all taken from these stairs as I walked down towards the cars.

It was amazing to have the M3 and the 1M, both black and both wearing the same wheels, side by side at the same time. What a pair!

In much of the promotional shots for the 1M, they emphasize this view...there's a reason!

From sitting behind the 1M on the turntable, this is what you see. I was trying to get a shot that captured the width and the presence of the car. I couldn't quite get far enough back to really do it justice....but it gives you an idea:

This is a shot of the BSM 1M with the headlights lit. Menacing!

When I headed out to grab my two buddies from the Airport to go to the meeting at M-Studio, I packed all my gear in the car. It holds a surprising amount. I know becuase those two turkeys brought as much as I did and we got all THAT in, too!

After I picked up the guys at the airport, and after we went to M-Studio, we returned to the BMW for a Haus Tour and a walk through the museum. Here are a couple photos from that:

We had a wonderful tour of the Welt by Caroline. We started the tour outside the public cafe on the main floor, near the auditorium. Here we were getting ready to start

Name: IMG_0088.JPG
Views: 1482
Size: 155.3 KB

As we walked across the floor to the first part of the tour, I saw this statue of an exhaust manifold and thought it was so cool. If any of you have ever tried to make one of these things, you'll appreciate what went into this piece!

Underneath the floor of the Welt is where all the cars are prepared and inspected before delivery to the waiting customers. This is some operation. They are currently delivering something like 70-80 cars a day, with a jump to around 160 cars a day in the near future. At full boogie they can deliver 270 cars a day! It doesn't sound that magnificent, until you realize what they do to prepare the car for you. I didn't get a great photo of it, but under here is a giant sort of vending machine, that is large enough to hold ~280 cars in a sealed, reduced oxygen room with robots to shelve and retrieve them! The robot is required becasue you can't work in a reduced oxygen enviornment, which was required to satisfy the Gov that 280 cars fueled and ready to drive won't go up in smoke! These are the photos I wish I has for you, I will try and get some out of the Architectual Book on the Welt that BMW gives you as part of the Delivery program. Pretty cool!

In the photos below are the areas where the cars are inspected and cleaned in the hours before the delivery. Cars begin to arrive at the Welt early each morning and just keep rolling in on trailers through the day.

Back on the main floor, this is the view from the Entrance looking INTO the Welt. You can see the AW 1M in the far right.

Looking up from the entrance you can see this "cloud" in the sky above. This is what the architect was hoping to create with the roof that weighs as much as 12 loaded Jumbo Jets, perched on 11 columns, most neatly built into the rest of the building, so as to make it feel like it's floating above you.

Near the end of the tour you will find yourself on part of a bridge that is inside the Welt, but leads outside and over the street to the BMW Museum. From this perch is where I saw the 1M promotion printed on the floor of the Welt, and its from here you can see the delivery area in the center of the building

Bye, Bye Caroline!

I'll post a couple photos from the museum, a bunch more from Nurburging and hopefully the Nurburgring video, which has been problematic, tomorrow night.

I'll have to take a quick look at the M3 to see what you're referring to. I'll check it out.

Thanks, Papethova, saved me some sleep time!

By the way I agree with your comments on the 1M and the GT3 RS.... I moved from the Boxster/Cayman platform with the intention of going towards a GT3 RS, but went this way as soon as I heard about it. The 1M is just so much fun and more than capable enough to be engaging long into the future. I toyed with the idea of ordering HNTNGGT3 (Hunting GT3) as a personalized plate. :-)

Hello, i've seen in a comparo of the 1M and the RS3 and Ford focus 500,
Both german prefer 98 or 99, and the focus is less picky, 95 is ok.

I have been travelling again and wasn't able to update here, however, I arrived back home to my 1M Coupe Limited Edition Print

This is a really cool touch. I wasn't sure how many of these would be created or ow quickly they'd arrive...but it beat my car's arrival back in Canada!

I've started compiling all the things I collected on my trip and I'm trying to find a way to combine them all in some kind of display. I'll let you know how I make out!

My 1M is supposed to be in town this weekend! Can't wait to get out in it again!

I had chance to drive 1M Coupe and I'd like just to say something - what a great car, some of you have just ordered! I wrote review of it, but unfortunately it's all in polish - but on the bottom there are 62 photos I took http://www.motofilm.pl/2011/05/17/bm...ej-formie-fot/ . Maybe some of you would like to take a look on them Cheers, and one more time - you can be proud to own 1M Coupe!

No car yet... It's been in the country for over two weeks...but nobody at the dealer or elsewhere has been able to help yet. I want my baby back! I'm having withdrawal....

Here are a couple more shots of it that I bought from the photogs in Germany.

I love this one. See the Cooling Fins on the Diff under the car???

So many great posts and then you just stop posting

How are you finding the car after 4 months of ownership? Did it ever make it back safely.

Finish the story!!

Ha! I see you all have been having fun since I last logged on!

My Car has been away for Winter since late last summer and tonight I started thinking about its return and logged on.

Thanks again to BMW Canada, Ryan at Budds, Christine (you know who you are), and the guys at SONAX.

I think its time to start playing with it a bit, I see you all have started already! LOL

Wow, that's self control right there. I couldn't manage that.

Just surpassed the 10k miles mark myself.

I must thank you again for your wonderful post, pictures and review. You were so helpful and accommodating at the time and you added to the whole experience for me!

All the best ,

Mark.

Hi Mark,

Our winters (although not this one) usually ravage cars. The amount of salt used and the chunks they throw out of the salt spreaders will make you grit your teeth! I'll not likley ever sell the little beast, so I want to preserve it best I can.

When I made this post, it was the thrid post I'd ever made I think...the first two were telling people I was going to get the car when I did....I don't think anyone believed me. Made me think actually. I'm really happy it was well received and it helped

I did manage to get about 10k on mine before I put it away too, not as much MNavigator did, but enough to really get a feel for it! I think MNav was north of 20k before end last season. Animal!

It has been months since I put it away, and I'm looking forward to getting it back out. Like I said time to play a little bit. Not a spanking brand new car now.

i ordered my 1M shortly after seeing the first photo of your bsm in this thread - it was the photo in the parking lot next to the red M3 - when i saw it i knew it had to be my next car! never saw a bsm photo until then - so thanks again for helping me decide!

i put my babyM in the garage in late november with 4016km - my first car not to be used during winter - want to preserve it as good as possible - and also my first rear wheel drive car since i need fourwheel drive in winter to get to our house when there is some snow...
