Question BMW 207M Wheel Weight?

Hello all,

Searching here I read once the OEM double spoke (Style 207M) alloy wheels in 17 x 7.0 front, 17 x 7.5 rear come in at 22.5lbs each.

Can anyone confirm this?

SIDE NOTE:

The OE Goodyear's EMT 205/50-17 & 225/45-17 come in at 26.0lbs each.

That's 48.5lbs per corner of unsprung weight.

Replacing the wheels with ARC-8's in 18x8.5" sq that weigh 18.1lbs and the 245/35-18 Michelin PSS (new sku for them spring of 2012) which might weigh in at 22lbs each.

Savings in unsprung weight would be 8.4lbs per corner.

For the 207M wheels, I believe the fronts are 10.13kg (22.3 lbs), and the rears are 10.16kg (22.4 lbs). The stock runflat tires are really heavy, presumably because the sidewalls are so tall and so thick.

I've just replaced my 207M's (and runflats) with some 18x8 and 18x9 wheels, with regular tires. I reduced unsprung weight by a little, but as far as I know it's not just the weight - it's how it's distributed from the center of the hub.

I would say mine 'feel' about the same weight on the car, or perhaps a fraction heavier. The extra grip should be amazing though. With something as light as you're going with, I'm sure that won't be an issue at all.

I keep the 207M with a set of Conti DWS. Will replace prob four years later. Not bad looking and not bad function.

^^+1. Wolf's info looks correct. You can look up any BMW OE wheel here...

I wouldn't trust the weights from BMW official figures. Generally BMW wheels are heavier than stated in the parts catalogue.
