Smile New here + New BMW owner!

Hi all!

Just wanted to say hi. I actually remember seeing a run down in Marysville, Vic. on youtube and it mentions 1addicts, so i cruised up here!

I've actually today taken a deposit dealership car - 125i + M sports + Sunroof. It's the same colour (Alpine White), and had the options i wanted and there she was at the dealer! I'm just waiting on work to do all the paperwork for the lease, but coming home this evening peering outside I saw her locked inside the prep area!

Mind you, i'm quite excited It's my first BMW, traditionally having driven 2 WRX's over my whole driving career (being now 5 years ). The only reason i didn't go all the way to the 135 was insurance. Even without any claims and a NCD rating 1 for life, i was quoted at 4k a year. So i'll wait until i'm actually over 25.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and i can't WAIT to take delivery - hopefully Sunday/Monday/Tuesday

Any tips/first feelings you can share?

Congratulations... A huge grin will go along with the excitement when you pickup your car and start to experience the BMW joy. I've had my car since Dec and still cannot wait to get in it every time I get a chance.

I'm a first time BMW newbie too- 125i convertible -always drove Japanese cars before, and new to this forum. Some of the guys here are really helpful like Zuzu, AMK2912 and d3syd. 125i has some minor irritations when compared to Japanese cars -the centre armrest when down covers the cupholder rendering it useless when you have idrive and no choice in upgrading the Hifi (unlike the 135) which is sadly lacking in volume. Have to do aftermarket. Thought an BMW would have better interior design but I conclude BMW is for driving pleasure, and not so much practicality at the entry level. Actually insurance through BMW was very good. I pay under $900 for comprehensive but does not cover under 25yo. Would be worth you checking out although you're under 25. Welcome.

So agree! Mind you, while the Subaru's have been very practical, and heaps of storage compartments, I don't usually need that much. The coupe was a good fit (no wife and kids just yet, so I don't really need the space, and it's a very good looking car).

Yeah, it was the only reason why I didn't go with the 135i. The insurance was excessive and when my lease rolls over i'll be over 25 so I can then claim a 135 and step up on my second lease. I will speak to the dealer this weekend when I see the car again, thanks for the heads-up!

I'll have a cruise around today at work on the forum, see what little bits i can pick up.

Btw, any ideas on what i should ask the dealer for as a present?

I think it's the distinguishing that BMW do between the M-pack for the 08 and the one they do for 09 models. As far as i know, there's no difference, but I do know I have the double spoke 261's on her, which from my knowledge, is rare on the 125.

Thanks - the nickname confuses a few people haha!

Apparently my dealer has upgraded me to "premium plates" - i'm hoping that'll be Euro!

Cheers mate - yeah it looks absolutely fantastic on the Alpine White. Just sits perfectly on those rims.

Can't wait to pick it up, I want it to be Monday/Tuesday next week already! It's going to be a looooong weekend, but the dealer said to drop in on Sunday and check her out again

Yeah - the wind screen in the back of the 135 convert adds a fair bit to the drag

Sounds fantastic though, will absolutely love to come along - will go and sign up

Anyway, going to see "Christine" on Sunday (she's already been named).

Very, very excited about picking her up next week!

Btw, how often are the meets?
