i've heard the race exhaust in person w/ catless midpipes. it sounds MEAN but ridiculous at the same time. i love it

i believe you just zip tie it in a loop, so it's essentially bypassed. it's similar to doing the golf-tee mod on a stock exhaust

it depends on what tone and sound quality you want. i'm running 3" AR design downpipes on the stock exhaust plus the golf-tee mod, i love the way my exhaust sounds. fully catless and resonator-less is another option to really wake things up (it'll be beastly loud but sound amazing).

cheapest.........probably some $200 downpipes (check the for sale forums here and on e90post, and get a cheap downpipe back exhaust). i've seen riss racing exhausts go for $300-500, which would essentially be a $700 setup with the downpipes. it would be pretty loud but not obnoxious.

that would definitely sound good. catless downpipes add gobs of power and increase the volume of the exhaust note, as well

you don't remove the vacuum line, you just close it off with a zip tie

Hey bryce, how come you're selling your FMIC? Is it too big or heavy?

honestly, i'm going to the big tom intercooler. the HPF intercooler is definitely a great piece and i'll likely miss it

i do have some front strut issues on my car but they're unrelated to the intercooler being big or heavy

Big Tom? I've read the gains are there but the install is a bit tricky (custom piping etc) plus I think the HPF is a nicer unit overall. I look forward to hearing your review on both though as I've only heard positive things about Big Tom from the guys who actually have it on their car. I would have the HPF fmic already on my car if HPF came out with their BOV kit.

right on. i'll post my impressions of the big tom IC after this weekend. it'll probably be hard to tell a difference on the "butt dyno," but i'll have a good idea about the install differences and fit/finish of both.

is it a squeaking sound? sometimes my brakes squeak a little, but if i speed up and then slam on the brakes, it seems to go away. i've read the brembo's on our cars require "seating" to avoid making noise, so use some firm braking, see if that works

that's basically what the dealer said to me, because they are such big breaks, we don't break as hard, and we end up just glazing them. Break hard a few times and that glaze should burn off.

If this doesn't help, get to the dealership and start complaining.

The 135i's stock calipers/brakes are brembos?
