Huh and with orange markers up front and a toll road box in the windshield plus the 264 wheels. I wonder where this beast was captured; Canada?

+1, it also has a electronic Fast Pass toll reader on the windshield. This looks identically specced to the car I saw at the Boston Car Show. (135i w/Jet black, black trim, red leather, orange markers, 264's).
Funny watermark, seeing we're all talking about understeer. |

That white box in the window looks like an I-Pass which lets you go thru tolls without having to stop and pay for them... but different states call it something different... and I doubt that car is from Cali because I know its $5 to cross over the Golden Gate Bridge each direction... so i'm curious as well...

i have a strange feeling thats in the states somewhere. My buddy used to work for BMW setting up the cars for shows and he said and has driven many pre production cars.
Thats an easy pass in the windshield. |

I thought the same way....and black on a small car usually just makes it look even smaller....but I like it in black- fits the character of the car pretty well.

You hit it dead on Brookside.....black on this car looks right. The silver, suprisingly dosent look right at all. I still don't like the 264's. Too plain or something.

That is very nice picture in black but in most of the others I cant seem to like it. My biggest problem is with the tail lights. The black makes the shape look very odd. Maybe with darkened brake lamps I might change my mind.

Seriously when I tried to imagine the 1-er in black, before the few pics we have available now, I thought it'd be the worst color you could choose. Now, I'm not too sure....even in this crummy photo it manages to look pretty formidable. I think from a straight shot of the back and front it'll look cramped and small. But for people who like their cars in black, looks to me like the 1-er pulls it off. |

Jim your doing it again! Posting pics of black that actually look nice! I guess I'll have to reserve my final judgement when I can actually see the car in the metal next year.

Black's been on my list the whole time. Some of the pics with wide-angle distortion are more affected by the black than the other color options. I think in person, it will be nice, especially with red leather.
I agree with Santa that the silver doesn't really work for this car. It's not a disaster, but I've always interpreted silver as a luxury/high-tech color. This car is more fun/sport oriented. It needs primary colors... I really like the AW (not good for Canadian weather though), but for me the reds, blacks and blues are the choices....
