Aux Input Removal

Any of you guys know if it's possible to pop out the aux input jack without removing the whole centre console section??

I ask because my car keeps dropping the left channel when using my ipod. I've tried 2 different cables and it does it with both! Tried the cables on my home stereo so it's not them!

It's already been in to the dealer and they failed to fix it - so if it wasn't too difficult I'd have a look at it myself. I reckon it's probably a loose connection in the actual jack itself!

The dealer has already had a go and told me it was fixed! That's why I thought I'd have a go...

The cable has to have a 3.5mm tip. If you can pull the tip out a little and it works, you probably are not using the proper cable. I had the same problem with cables I already had laying around that work fine on my Tivoli radio aux input, but the car's input is more choosey.

I bought a Belkin 3.5mm cord and it works fine.

Well - the plot thickens!!! I was able to remove the rear panel where the rear air vents are and found the cables for the aux input! Lo and behold one of the cables is all pinched and actually burst through so that I can see the wires!! Looks like this is the problem!!

Dealer is going to fix it this weekend!

Cos it was an intermittent problem, they probably stuck an ipod in went "oh - it's working" and gave me it back!!! Worst of all - they caused the problem when the dash had to be removed to fix the air-con!!!!!! The only word I can use for the dealers mechanics is INCOMPETENT!!! Menzies of Stirling btw...
