paint 'flaking' off front bumper

hey
got a few stone chips in the front bumper.. the paint appears to be flaking off around the chip

is this normal? how do i stop it? a bit of touch up paint over the top?

i take it this stuff isn't covered by warranty and bmw won't help me without respraying the whole thing for big $?

i got some as well from trucks with no load cover on the M5, really stands out on AW too as the plastic under is black. the paint around the chip looks pushed back in parts and can be peeled off as if the stone has spread on impact. speed may have been an issue in causing this... i'm sure you haven't been speeding however

yes that sounds the same as mine.. however mine is light silver so not that noticable.. i've never seen paint flake like that before after being chipped.. normally it's hard enough to just chip and stay that way.. could be something to do with the bumper material being that 'return to shape' plastic?

Ouch, these stories hurt

Zuzu got me a couple of times on the Southern Highlands drive, but nothing terrible (i just like to blame him ).

One on the passenger A-pillar, and one about a foot up the bonnet from the BMW badge.

it looks like if you pulled at an edge the paint would peel off the plastic. it probably is exactly what you said, flexable non cracking paint that can move with the plastic.

Fuggin' hate scratches and chips. It's my worst nightmare. Oh, and Zuzu don't worry, he mentioned to me the chips you put on the car on the weekend, Alex definately likes to blame you lol.

I have a nice edge scratch, about 1 inch long, on the rear bumper, you can see it here right in line with the diffuser on the right corner No idea how it got there
