yep, can't wait to get some sound in this thing -- only car I ever had decent sound in was my Echo, it should be a lot more fun cruising around in a pretty sick 135i!
Thanks for all the tips, much appreciated! |

install of the box was perfect! your instructions where very good. I will get some pics this week. wiring up my amps this weekend. Still waiting on my door mounts. once i receive them i am dynamating my doors and installing 3-way hertz components and mounting the 6.5" underseat...well at least this is the plan today. It keeps changing about what i am doing up front. Thanks for the box! cant wait to hear it this weekend all set up tim

Indeed. Ben (TPLSM3) did a wicked job on the box. I am hooking it up this weekend so i will get back for a real review. Very fair price for a custom job too.

you will need a sound processor like an audiocontrol LC6 or LC7 to sum you outputs and have a good signal to your sub. pretty simple to do

i am installing Hertz 3-way components, using my floor mount for the 6.5" and obivously the 4" in the door and tweet in the door pillar. Should sound better than the subs underseat...add more depth and clarity to the system. At least that is my plan at the moment.

mineo77, where are you mounting your amps and audio processor unit? Thanks a ton for the pics, I will def. be ordering this mount for my sub, just don't know if I should keep the Kicker Comp I have or get something better.... I know the custom mount is pretty much made for one particular model of sub, so I want it to be the right one!

Planning on the ESK 163L, the HSK is a little bit too much $$$ i think. They should fit with a few modifications to the floor mounting, it about 12mm shallow for what i need. The mobile audio shop is guarentee a fit with minimal modification. I will know if the next few weeks, i am just waiting on my door mounts for my tweets to get in before i do my install. I just feel a complete 3 way system should balance the car correctly and have good depth and clarity, esp if you are running a nice CLEAN amp.
I am planning on mounting my audiocontrol under the rear trunk cover by the battery and the amps probably above off the rear deck. Running the sub control to under the dash up front so it is not visual. I will keep you posted and take some pics of my install stages

Yeah I just pulled this up:
http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/Doc/pdf_esk163l.pdf Looks like the mounting depth for the 6.5" is about 66mm. |

Thanks for the compliments guys! I'm glad that everyone that has ordered one loves the custom enclosure.
Tim, I think once you're all done, you may have the best setup all around. You're really putting some good thought & quality equipment in the 1er. Now I just need to stop being lazy and upgrade my interior speakers. lol Best of luck & let us know how it turns out. |

Jose, thats the LOC to use. I'm sure there's many others out there, but that one will work fine. As for amp, I've always been a fan of the JL 500/1 for your sub.

I saw this enclosure installed on a local 1series at our shop down the road and let me just say it was pretty sweet looking. I may end up adding something like this to the 3series eventually just because of the bass that you can add without losing any real trunk space at all.
Fit was great, looked like it belonged there. Very nice addition to the car. |
