Comparisons..
I had a general question..
I see that the 330i is always being compared to lexus IS350, or MB..etc. What can the 325i be compared too.. Something in its class/price? Audi A4? I know the 325i lacks the horsepower of the 330i, but doesnt it drive just the same? So i was just kind of curious as to what other cars compare with my 325.... and ones that i could beat! (Dont say a ford escort.. someone has already suggested that! :finger: )

Probably another Lexus, a C class merc and an Audi of some kind I suspect as a starting point. Probably a lot of cars to try and compare with the 325.
They will ALL lose - of course!!!

Classwise: 325i, IS250, A4 2.0T, MB C230...even G35 to some further extent.
Pricewise it's more diverse. A new S2000 costs nearly as much as a 325i. Most people don't know that.

The most logical comparison is to the 330i. G35 comparisons are unavoidable, as are A4 2.0T. You'll find that there's no shortage of cars that will try to keep up with you at every stoplight, from Accord to 350Z. They won't understand that you're not racing, just enjoying the high revvin nature of your silky smooth Inline 6.

As others have mentioned, the IS250, the C230, and the A4 2.0T. It blows those others away, much more so than the 330i and it's competition (IS350, C350, A4 3.2). I guess you could also say that the G35 is roughly in it's price range, but when I think of the Infinity I think of it being more of the competition for the 330i.
Before I bought my 330i, I test drove the 325i non-sport, 330i sport, A4 2.0T sport, A4 3.2 sport. The 325i non-sport definitely felt better and more connected to the road than the A4 2.0T sport and the A4 3.2 sport. The 330i sport was clearly better than both the Audis, and I thought the 325i was at least better than the 2.0T. The Audis both had a lot of body roll and didn't feel as connected to the road as the bimmers--and that's with their $3,000 S-line sports package! Bottom line: When I got my 330i, I was willing to trade a little 0-60 time for much better handling, road feel, and fun-to-drive-ness. When you compare the 325i to its competition, you don't even have to sacrifice 0-60 time (with the exception of the G35, if that counts as competition). A no brainer, IMHO.

Bellas,
Nice Avetar. IMO, the 325 compares/dominates the following: IS250 C230 S40 T5 A4 2.0T TSX G35 9-3 On a performance level, the G35 competes with the 330i, but because of the price, a G35 can be had for the price of the 325i. Despite this fact, the 325 was an easy choice for me. The G attracts many value consumers for that very reason. |

G35's one of the main advantage is having performance @ a great value. Otherwise, all those cars above are good competitions to 325. And 325 wins all of them.

but the main point is, which car is really a "driver's sport sedan". and that, BMW never fails to win. Its not about 1/4mile or highway runs that BMW focuses on.

Even the 3.2 is running high 6's, low 7's. Next time he tells you A4 is faster, ask him to prove it. |

I wonder why the Mitsubishi EVO has never been considered in comparison to the 325? The EVO is starting at around 29k, loaded at around 35k.

As I suspected. No wonder why any E90'er is brave enough to denigrate an EVO or STi...

Just look at the evo in & out.
Inside looks worse than a civic, and outside looks like a ricer's wet dream.

The Evo looks, smells, sounds, and feels like it came out of an econobox scrap bin. But it'll absolutely blow the doors off of a 325 (or 330) in a straight line, on the track, on the highway, through the curves...well, just about anywhere. |

Well it's just not in the same class. The EVO and STi are great for going really fast yet pretty practical but the 330i is still fun to drive, decently quick and provides a lot more luxury. If you want a harsh riding, fast, awesome handling car with Recaros, then you're most likely not going to consider a 330i.

Although the 325i lacks HP on paper, but it is very fun to drive. It handles great and better than all the cars mentioned above :rocks:
I will prefer my 325i to Lexus IS350, because the ride is so much better, that's why I am in a 325i and not IS350. It is pure fun to drive. I look forward to when I am going to drive it next time. It has never been so much fun going to work before even on a Monday
