Steering wheel trim, paint rubbing off?

Anyone else having this issue? The black rubberized coating on the steering wheel trim piece where I place my left thumb is starting to peel away. I asked the dealer about this thinking it was a warranty issue and they told me it wasn't covered? My service advisor told me it was due to the oils in my skin or other thinngs along that line and that it wasn't covered. I thought that was a pretty shady answer? a new piece installed will run about $245.00!!! WTF!!!

Had same problem and had it replaced under warranty. Tell them you want to meet with the regional service advisor to discuss it.

Same issue here but my dealer replaced it under warranty. Depends on the dealer I guess. Since they must have submitted the bill to BMW NA, the manufacturer is covering these issues.
