Photoshop CS2
I highly recommend it. I just upgraded (yeah I know I'm slow) and it definitely is way better than the 7.0 I was using. Here are a couple examples
They're 1600 x 1200 so I'll link: http://nikki.e90post.com/Images/port_22_lrg.jpg http://nikki.e90post.com/Images/port_22_orig.jpg http://nikki.e90post.com/Images/port_27_lrg.jpg http://nikki.e90post.com/Images/port_27_orig.jpg

Hahha, I don't know exactly what they changed but I definitely found the Clone Stamp to be much more effective. The new Smart Sharpen filter is better than the Unsharp Mask filter. There's a lot of new stuff, I haven't even checked it all out it. You can find it illegally with a bittorrent program, I think it's been out for a year now or more. I'm just behind the game lol.

I love being able to select multiple layers, create nested folders, the new type previews, bridge etc. I went from Adobe Suite 7 to Creative Suite CS2 as well and man all the programs are good. I did the same with the Macromedia suite too, went from MX to 8 and nice improvements. The upgrades are pretty cheap too (and a business write off )

On your first one, the sharpen filter's played havoc with the lines around your chrome trim, the lines on the hood and your wheels; lots of jaggies, no aliasing. I actually prefer the backlit original more because of it.

Probably not, you need to click the plus sign to see it in full size.

Hey Nikki - you talked me into it. I love the difference I see in your comparison photos. I've been using PS 5.0 for years now. I usually don't do much with it but remove the occasional blemish, do some cropping, and maybe lighten or darken a bit. But after seeing your shots and reading up on the new features (especially support for RAW files, which my ancient version doens't have) I decided to upgrade.
P.S. I voted for you in the Miss E90Post contest... sorry you didn't win.
