Water pump?

On my way to work this morning my car did not heat up at all ~20 degrees. After a few miles of driving I got a water temp yellow light and complete loss of power. Car still not heating up. No coolant leaking. Touch the engine its still cold after ~10 miles I should feel some heat. Having it towed now. Any idea as to what it could be?

Thermostat could be stuck open and over-cooling your engine.

That is my second thought. Hoping its that. Either way I have a warranty but that's a much simpler fix.

IIRC shops will usually replace thermostat and water pump together because it's a pain to get at either one of them. Given that you're an '08 I'd recommend doing the other one also if it's either of those things.

I had it towed to a Mercedes dealership due to the fact it was the closest in my warranties network. They wanted $200 to take it to BMW which is an hour away. So im sure they can figure it out. Ive seen multiple BMW's for sale including 335's there which makes me assume they know how to fix them.

Looks like it is the water pump. Hopefully warranty will cover it. Glad I paid for that extended warranty.

Warranties gonna cover it. Good thing since it was gonna be $1400 worth of parts and labor. After warranty kicked in its gonna be under $140.

Where did you get an extended warranty that lets you take it to a Mercedes dealership?

ACS warranty company. Got it for a steal when I bought my car. They said it was in their network of shops.
