NSW Dutton Rally this weekend!

Heading off tomorrow for some fun! Friday and Saturday will be in / around Goulburn and Sunday at Oran Park. Anyone interested should come out for a look!

Just got the car stickered up - came up ok I think! I'll make sure I get plenty of pics etc over the weekend.

The car looks awesome, great colour scheme

Although a caption under one of the arrows with "This way up" would be amusing. Though the last time I saw that on a race car, it rolled that meet!

Is that all the stickers? Normally have a lot more I though. Looks really good though I reckon, much better than previous years. Good luck, looking forward to Vic Dutton!

That is just our stickers, all the Dutton Rally ones go on when you get to the event.

Great stuff Jeff. I might drop into Oran Park on the way home from Newcastle. What's the timetable like for Sunday? Do you think you'll be there still in the afternoon?

There's racing pretty much all day on Sunday, at least until 5pm. The GP circuit sprints are from 1pm to 5pm so I reckon you'll be able to see some good racing. Jeff is car 55 so that is about midfield if they are releasing cars in order of car number.

Jeff, you were asking about chips previously. I have been following the limp home mode issues racers have with their cars and we now seem to know what the issue is. Essentially, it appears that oil temp has no bearing on limp home mode (I have hit 145 degrees with no issue!). It is down to the water temp. I have logged my water temp on the track using a OBD2 bluetooth tool, and I hit 115 degrees celcius. It appears that the engine goes into limp home mode at 120 degrees. Now as you know, high boost will increase the water/oil temp. Given that I am maxing out at 11.9psi and am within 5 degrees celcius of being in limp home mode, I would not recommend that you go with a high boost tune if you are racing. One of the racing team have had to reduce the boost on their car to keep running. So until you have some way of reducing your engine/water temp, stick to stock or use a low boost tune. I have been saying from day 1 that high boost tune is not a good idea for those of us racing/tracking, and I can now back that up with some data gleaned from myself and the US racers.

Good luck this weekend!

The Dunlop looks squarer than the Bridgestone so it was a guess. I think the RE-55s has more spread out ridges on the outside as well.

Yeah what are you guys doing with brake pads?

All done for today. I had a brain explosion in the first Motorkhana and made a wrong turn which means slowest time + 10 secs. Quite a few other people stuffed it aswell so it might not hurt me too much... I've got the charity dinner at Eastern Creek tonight and will get an update on positions etc.

My original target was a top 10 outright driver finish which is incredibly optimistic for a rookie in such a standard rwd car. Hopefully I can hold on!

Current standings after two days (Sunday at Oran Park still to come):

Individual:
- 6th outright driver
- 1st outright handicap driver (adjusted for class)
- 1st rookie driver
- 1st Class B driver

Crew (driver and co-driver combined):
- 9th outright crew
- 2nd outright handicap crew (adjusted for class)
- 1st rookie crew

It's looking like it could be a little wet today at Oran Park so please pray for the dryest conditions possible to give our rwd a chance!

Will update again tonight once it is all over.
