That blue 1M is just amazing! Such a shame they didn't offer this color or made a limited edition...

Love the frozen VO! And yeah, there are a few companies that do matte vinyls like Premier and their SatinGuard.

The matte VO was done by a local paint shop in Germany (took them 2 months to complete), not a factory job, as the owner told me. The blue one is clearly a wrap on an AW car, I checked in person. So sorry, these two truly good looking and special cars were NOT painted as they are by BMW.

Actually, all VO 1M's feature a semi-frozen lookalike VO part: just check the inside/underside/verso of the bonnet and the trunk lid and you know what I mean.

Don't say "partially painted". Say "semifreddo", as Italians do.

So I guess the verdict is there was only 1 car painted in something other than VO, AW, BSM in the factory?

The frozen VO is sick. Already asked my buddy ,who has a wrap shop in Belgium, if he has this color available. I was thinking to put a clear vinyl on the car to protect its paint but this is a lot cooler.
Definitely want it

Sorry I was away yesterday at Hockenheim Ring for the Tuner Grandprix...

UPDATE:

Yes, the pics I posted (above) now seem to have had their paint work colors changed after they left the BMW factory.

But to answer your Question... I think it was Scott26 who first said BMW will not make any 1M Individual colors.... then the bronze 1M broke cover and he said well... it ended up costing the owner five times the price of Individual paint(a 5K euro option) plus that SG 1M car had to be shipping from Leipzig to Garching and then back to Leipzig for shipping. And it took a long time to build, strip, paint, rebuild.

But it was also in that statement that Scott26 said there was only a "few" 1M's done by M in Garching for Individual car color program.

I know last year when I went to the //M Studio in Garching they had a picture of the "Prince of Bayern" (Bavaria does have a real Prince(!), and he is a big BMW fan...) anyways they said he was interested in a "different color" but when he found out the price (20 to 25K euros)... he just ordered a AW car. And btw... his car was a "stripper" - bc he thought the 1M is a real back to basics sort of performance car. I could not agree more.

Still...It is a beautiful color.
This is Monte Carlo Blue metallic. I took the picture. Not sure why it was called Frozen Blue, but there was Frozen Blue E92 M3

Then we all have seen PowerBeast 's lovely Dakar Yellow 1M. Not sure IF that was done by BMW or not.

Now today we see BMW has made two other colors. A Frozen Blue and a Frozen VO. Take a look. I wonder what other colors we will see down the road that BMW "did not make" but really made.

This particular 1M was stripped of the clear coat and had Frozen OEM clear coat applied over the paint. It looked very nice and the job was perfect. As far as the Frozen Black and Matte Black there is quite a difference between the two. Frozen Black is very smooth and slick to the touch and has a low-lustre shine where as Matte Black paint is very porous and no shine at all. E92 M3 with BMW BANK stickers is Matte Black and F10 M5 or E90 M3 is Frozen Black for comparison.

The CRT parked next to the GTS belongs to the same guy/family from Australia, who keeps them in Germany so they can enjoy them here.

The other picture with two M3 CRTs (1 and 2 of 67) and F10 M5 in Frozen Silver parked between them were given to press for test rides, and then will be sold later.

Here is that bronze 1M from SG. It was reported the owner paid something like four or five times the price of a standard Individual price for paint! 25K euros!?

And lets not forget PowerBeast 's awesome Dakar Yellow 1M...

The Frozen VO was done by a private shop. I talked to BMW Individual marketing Head of Sales in Europe who was present at the M Festival and said that BMW actually wants to know which shop painted this car with Frozen clear coat because the job was superior. He talked to the owner of this particular 1M and was told that the clear coat was sanded off just to the base coat and then frozen clear coat was applied over.

Btw... I am not really sure if Powerbeast 's Dakar Yellow was a factory job or not. He has been kind of vague on that. But the other cars in my OP are all Individual paint jobs done by BMW by the looks of it.

Dack
Powerbeast have a thread about the paint, and they pulled pretty much every piece apart to paint it Dakar Yellow .

As posted earlier, it would have been quite a statement of BMW if the 1M had been offered in the three ///M colors only.

Seems that BMW is heading in the right direction: they just announced that the 2013 BMW M3 Coupe Frozen Limited Edition will be on offer in red, white and blue. Only 150 cars though (USA). Production starts next January.
