To get the 1m parts, can you just walk into a dealer and order them without having the vin#? Or where can they be purchase besides the dealer?

Of course they'll be put up for sale! I don't imagine he's doing the work to add 4 1Ms to his personal collection...

And, as required by law, they'll be sold with salvage titles.

In NY they are called 907a titled vehicles ( salvage / wrecked and repaired )

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...rg-XqDzwJ1XY_A

http://www.dmv.ny.gov/salvexam.htm

There is a pretty thorough DMV inspection and documentation process that has to be followed ( proof of parts purchases / vin reassignment / theft inspectin / proof of repair ...etc etc etc )

call your ins co to verify that they will insure a 907a car.. some do some dont...but dont worry about that honestly, it has been done a bazillion times

although maybe not in theses cases due to $$$ 907a cars are great to make track cars out of as long as structure was not reason for total loss.. floods, small fires, theft recoveries etc are all good basis for track cars on the cheap ..

Well ozinaldo, i don't believe that there is a comparison between 1M and CSL.. We are talking for almost a different type of cars with different approach to driving.. CSL is more aggressive than 1M and not an everyday car in comparisson with 1M that is an everyday car. You can go to your work with but with thw CSL you can't. Everything is almost in racing position, from the seats up to the throttle response.. Threre are fast, fun and their setup is extraordinary.. But i have to admit that both of them are AMAZING and i enjoy every second driving them..!
These days i have the 1M in the garage and waiting for the new BBS F1 19' with Michelin Super Sport Cup, StopTech BBK and KW CS, BMW Motorsport bucket seats and i'm thinking some other changes such as putting a half rollcage painted in car's colour and the carbon roof. For the last one i'm not so sure.. :-/

Regards

I'm not sure that someone would try to put a dct in one of these but I think it's only a matter of time that you'll see someone try to stuff an m3 v8 in one....the rails and shock towers are identical as is the front subframe.... with a little modification and relocation of a few items it can be done....

does anyone out there know how much more heavier that v8 engine would be as compared to the 6 thats in there now....it would be interesting to see how much more weight you would add to the front and how that would change the handling.......

I believe it's only a 16# difference (445 vs 429). Someone in Egypt built a 1M replica and dropped in the S65.

Member 'hatem' has done this already in Egypt (stuff a S65 M3 V8 engine in a 1-series)

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ighlight=hatem

The weight difference between the S65 and N54 is negligible, IIRC under 50lbs, so you are not paying a big penalty for the conversion.

Maybe next time you get a totaled M3 you transplant it's motor in one of the 1Ms
