2011 has the N55 engine which has less fuel pump issues but also makes less power if you go the route of full engine mods. But some have stated that it feels better driving stock than the N54(08-10) engine.

I am looking at a '08 135i it has 14,000 miles, of course when i ask the dealer
he said car's engine is in "pristine" condition. do u think that car might have
the hpfp problem later on? is the HPFP problems with 08-10 already solve?
if i decide to buy the car ("08 135i) what else do i need to look at for?
I really like the body style of the current 1 series
thanks for the reply

HPFP issues are unpredictable. It can happen to a completely stock car or a completely modified car. But BMW issued a recall and HPFP is covered something like 8 years and/or 120k miles. Google it to check that number.

I read on a thread in here that there were some suspension changes for 2011 but I can't find anything from BMW about it. Anybody know details if it is true? Also in 2011 the automatic transmission was changed from a more traditional auto to a duel clutch automated manual with seven forward gears.

The springs were changed from progressive to linear for 2011.

Don't forget the inadequate base sound system for 2010 models.

BMW did that song and dance with me for a year. every time it would breakdown they would say "fixed it".. A month later in the shop.

No, it does not have a HPFP. But since the 135i pump is warranted by BMW to 120k miles, why the concern?

Linear feel sportier/allow less roll...however, I always recommend the BMW performance suspension, which does not come stock.

No HPFP issues for the 128i given that they don't have the pump. The issues with the 135i's have virtually disappeared after the recall/replacement.

Good to hear about the liner springs. Did they only change the springs and leave everything else unchanged? Seems odd to me but I am no suspension guru.
